Engine Noise - Flapping Sound?! WTF Mate?!
Ok, cliffnotes -
D16Z6, engine is making a wierd noise when the throttle is depressed from 2800RPM on, but this noise goes away when the throttle is released. It sounds as if something is flapping real hard against something else, what you would expect to hear from a piece of paper inserted into a desk fan. Isn't the timing belt, we checked, not the alternator belt.
Possible Ideas
1) Loose Valve
2) LMA's? Do SOHC even have those?
3) Actually something around the timing belt in the cover
4) ...........................Bearing?!
Any ideas, inputs will be welcome. I will be waiting till about 4:00am before I hit the motor to give it adequate time to cool down.

Ok, it is the morning and I have checked the following -
Valve Lash - OK
Timing Belt - OK
Rod Knock - Spark Plug Test - OK
The noise is still there and coming from the area of the flywheel clutch. Could one of the bolt have come loose causing excess chatter when it is engaged?

I am going to look into the distributor now as the car cut out on me while it was running in the garage earlier and I am no longer getting spark.
I went for the distributor and find the following -
Remove cap, rotor intact but oil has pooled in the bottom of the cap (part closest to transmission)
The black cover that goes underneath the cap and covers the coil and the ignitor is loose which could explain the WHAPWHAPWHAP noise due to harmonic vibrations etc.
The ignitor is covered in oil, the innards all have a light covering of oil.
Bad seal in the distributor? If so, is the distributor junk or can this seal leaking oil be scavenged from another distributor?
