Hollowed Out my Cat and now my exhaust sounds like crap
I hollowed out my cat. and since then i have heard a tingy rattle from underneath my car. Only under moderate to heavy accelteration...Cold Start especially, around 2,500-4,000 RPM. I do have a small upper end noise from somewhat loose valve lash. I have banged on every heat shield and removed anything that seemed to be loose. Has anyone else ever experienced this after punching out a cat. Also I removed both upper and lower heatshields that are attached to the cat itself. P.S. Anyone want to sell an O2 sim for a 96 Prelude... If not Ill search it no stress... dont feel like being yelled at on honda tech for not searching....
ive had mine hollowed out since it was garbaged anyways when i put my cat back on. its never sounded like crap ever, and i dont have any rattling anywhere. i took all the heatshiled off the cat also. theres gotta be something rubbing somewhere, or maybe you didnt get everything out of the cat. the honeycomb in mine was garbage, and had broken apart and gotten in my old exhaust, which is why i just cleared out the whole cat.
i hollowed mine out also and mine still had the stock resonator and a straight thru muffler and it sounded weird like a raspy air sound going through the exhaust. So i got a guy to cut out the resonator and put in a pipe. problem solved. it is very loud now.

Yep put a test pipe on my car, with 2.5 pipping and thermal R&D muffler and it would ring and was so loud so it was kinda imbarassing. Put a resignator on it and it sounds great, real deep and it still flows very well also.

It's because you are missing a crucial device, its called a turbocharger..

thats only cuz that pesky turbo spoooling up covers the noise

i had catless system on my JUN head. I also had a monster 20" resonator to take care of the fart cannon APC noise. Throw a resonator on that thing or a new cat. For the minimal gains you get from removing/gutting a cat, its pointless to be a mass polluter.
