at 80mph a gsr will be at 4000 a b16 will be about 44 to 4500. A ls is somewhere around 35 to 3600.

with 15's and 205/50's and a gsr tranny im at about 4100-4200 in 5th at 80mph. it is kinda annoying at first, but its really not that bad. i took the car to jers and back last weekend, about 150 miles each way, and im still getting in the low to mid 20 mpg range (which is directly affected by me boosting a lot ).

I had 215/35/19 on my 2000 Si with a B16 tranny. I didn't see a big decrease in RPM at the 80mph mark. I was still just over 4K instead of around 4300-4400. You'll need a smaller FD to get down into the mid 3K at the speed, but then you'll suck at acceleration. Maybe you can find a 5th gear stuff that would make the ratio larger so you can hit a smaller RPM at 80 mph. I have know clue on tranny stuff.

I would hope that you saw absolutely no difference; the wheel and tire size does not affect the indicated speed vs. RPM for a given gear period.

If you change the overall circumference of the wheels from the stock settings you will see a slight change. Do the math or go to this website.

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

The stock 2000 Si has 195/55/15 tires and I had 215/35/19. Therefore I would hit 80 mph before my speedometer would read 80.

I clearly stated indicated speed. I reiterate, you will see no difference in your speedometer reading vs. tachometer reading as a result of changing your tire diameter.

Unless you recalibreate the speedometer, if that is possible, no you won't see a change. So you can't look at the speedometer to compare the RPM vs speed when you change the diameter of the wheel and tire. My speedometer would read 80 mph when I am actually going 85 so in essence my rpm's do change according to speed, even though my my gauges say otherwise. I now have OZ superleggera's with 205/40/17. There is no visual difference between this size and my stock size with respect to RPM vs Speed.

The point of this thread is
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Jay Blazed &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">tring to get a good idea for a tranny swap in my ls</TD></TR></TABLE>

You can change your wheel and tire setup to help out a bit, but you definitely need a lower FD tranny to get down to that RPM vs. actual speed.

You can't argue with a cop to say that your speedmoter is wrong, otherwise he'll write another ticket for a malfunction within the car.

Or you can get those big wheels that you'd see on a rediculous escalade in a rapper's video. Get a 22' wheel and get 235/50/22 tires y0!. You'd have some serious rubbing issues HAHA, but your speedomter would ready 60, but your actually going 80 and a lower RPM's.
