1997 PRELUDE Auto Trans. NOT starting after 12+ hours of sitting. Got spark, got fuel on 3 plugs Ple
My car is not starting after one day of sitting.
However, when I take the plugs out, clean them and put them back in 45+ minutes later it will start up.
I see fuel on THREE of the plugs except the one near the distrib.
Just replaced the distributor and all plugs.
I'm getting spark.
It will crank and almost start but no go (Unless I pulled the plugs out like above)
A smog center said my car is running lean and I need to get my fuel injectors cleaned but they've been wrong about the problem twice already so I'm not sure if they're just guessing again!
Here's more info on the fueless spark plug:
It seems that after trying to start the car with no avail. I continued to pull the spark plugs out like usually. This time the last spark plug caught my attention (The one near the distrib.)
All the plugs were soaked with fuel EXCEPT one.. I very closely examined it and the only fuel I can see is around the threads but very little and on the actual ignitor there was no fuel whatsoever!!
Could this long time problem of mine simply be a clogged injector?? Or what?

Ok I just put the spark plugs back in after an hour or so and now the car won't start at all no more! Geeeeeez what a headache!
Also, when I look at the spark plug with no fuel on it the ignitor is pure black!
Can somebody please help? Pleeease..

You have washed down the oil from the cylinder walls with all your caranking and fuel injecting and now there is no compression, put a half a teaspoon in the cylinders through the spark plug holes, crank the engine to blow a little oil back out the holes, plugs in, hold throttle wide open and start. Change oil first, its full of gas and very thin.
No starting because you have a fuel pressure problem, maybe some injectors leaking into the cylinders, get them cleaned by a pro and have fuel pressure checked.

Wow you really know your stuff don't you!
Well I can't thank you enough for answering my desperate plea for help.
So you want me to start with changing the oil in the car..
Then doing the spoon of oil in the cylinders.
Then get it started and have the injectors cleaned? Since they're most likely leaking shouldn't I have them replaced? Or check the fuel pressure first?
I'm going to take it somewhere tomorrow after I do the oil thing.. Thanks..

Your list of things to do is correct, the destributor is not in backwards, it would spit and sputter and backfire and the engine would have a very hard time turning over.
If you are going to a shop with a scope have them do an amp ramp on the coil, it may be weak causing your hard to start, they will know what a shark fin amp wave is and they should know what a slightly shorted coil looks like, otherwise just swap it out to see if it fixes your problem if the fuel pressure test doesnt show a problem first.
You completely understood what I said, good luck.
