cherry bomb as a resinator?
sup guys i was wondering if a cherry bomb will work as a resinator. the guy i bought the car from has a generic *** custom piping exhaust with just cat converter and muffler and my car is loud as hell. so i was thinkin maybe if i cut some of the pipe of and put a cherry bomb as a resinator. will that work? all i want is it to be quieter until i can get cat back exhaust.

If you want to keep the whole exhaust setup and just want to quiet it down, invest in a resonator. Even if you were running no cat, a single, longer sized resonator would quiet it down substantially.
If you plan on tossing the exhaust, just save and buy what you want. The GReddy exhaust is tradiationally quiet, but again, you can opt to get what you want and toss a resonator in to quiet it. Resonators usually go anywhere from $50-$75 at muffler shops.

Try a DC Sports header to a generic hi flow cat ($50 no name brand) to a 2 1/4 cherry bomb about 30 inches long (it came off the truck in my old man's ditch) into whatever muffler you like. Works great PASSED MASSACHUSETTS EMISSIONS and it sounds like a beast! Cheap too
I don't have any pics. I don't have that exhaust anyomore. I would've kept it, but I'm turbo now. It works. I'll be raspy if you only use a cherry bomb. It'll quite it down though. A resonator is better, but It will work. As for the size. I grabbed a pretty long one. I want to say 17 -20"

True in a sense, if you are just running a cherrybomb/glasspack. I know a couple of people who added them to there exhaust, one had his between the cat and muffler, just like a resonator , and the other had two glasspacks and a muffler with no cat, he ran just a muffler a while and got tired of the tone/loudness and added one (with the cat heat shield around it partly so he could get it inspected without as much hassle, no emissions, just visual inspection), it sounded alot better and he added another a couple of months later. In those two cars, they both sounded better, took out the annoying EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEw wwwwwwwwwwwww
and gave them a deeper tone.
