SRR
http://www.srr.com.tw/english/e_accessories.asp

Willans
http://www.willansusa.com/racing/

I know Willans are FIA/SFI approved, but what about the SRR? yes it's not LISTED on SRR's website... maybe the webmaster forgot? :D

just wondering what people use out there and opinions/experiences.

Takata - no, sorry, too BLING.

TIA!

Don't do seats & belts without at least a roll bar.

don't do seats with harness if you don't have a roll bar. If you roll over with a fixed seat and 4/5/6 point harnesses you may get crushed. The stock 3 point harnesses are designed to make you lay down to the side incase of a roll over, other wise the roof comes down and your *** is grass.

SRR is not FIA approved. And Willans = major blinging awesomeness. Without a doubt choose Willans over SRR. Schroth is another option if you're spending that much, and my personal choice.

Oh, and, don't use these without a rollbar

Schroth makes the current Sparco belts and they are FIA certified

I have to be honest, I am a fairly new guy that went to the track once with my stock leather seats and 3pt seat belt - i HATED it... sliding everywhere, thot a harness would do me good until i can afford a seat... BUT now i've learned that's an even more STUPID ywa of thinking... no roll cage and using a harness. so I thank you for informing me! i'm learning a lot from HT day by day!

*btw* thanks for not flaming me... now i think about it, it could have been a flameable offense for not knowing "DON'T use a harness without a rollbar" :D

Get a decent seat and you will be amazed at the difference it makes.

Stay safe.

Yes - best thing i've ever done for a track car, and now I cant do without it and hate riding in stock seats as an instructor. Its much more comfortable on track and takes a lot less effort to drive.

The nicest harnesses I've ever used are the ones by Autopower, the same folks famous for their rollbars and cages. My buddy had a street/track Miata that has these in it. The way the camlock is designed and the way it feels while engaging and disengaging...it just exudes quality to me. And, there's no little stick on the end of the cam like on some harnesses. It's just a knurled wheel that you twist...nothing to get caught in the "belt" of your driving suit.

I also once rode around in a car that had Schroth 5- or 6-points, I forget which. They were high end and behaved as such. The adjusters worked flawlessly, no digging around for the little pull tab, just get in and go.

Dunno if this helps (it probably doesn't), but I continue to find that once you sample the good stuff in safety gear, you won't want to go back to the "racer special" stuff in the front of the catalogs. The Good Stuff (Sparco, MOMO, Autopower in the case of restraints, and on it goes) really is awfully good.

Be careful here. If you are using it on the street still, you need a roll bar, not a roll cage. A roll cage without full safety equipment, including a helmet, is very dangerous. I know PA doesn't allow you to wear a helmet while driving a car, I don't know about other states. Anyway, the cage makes it a "track only" car, whereas a roll bar allows it to remain streetable.

I wouldnt have any reservations about driving my integra on the street to the track with a custom cage - you can get the tubes pretty far away from your body with a custom cage and a proper seat/mount. I wouldnt daily drive that though.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about the cage in my CRX. That was until I had my oh-so-famous wreck on the standing start back in 2001, and noticed the scuff marks on the side of my helmet from where it hit the cage during the accident.

Never underestimate how much your body can move in a wreck...

i have used two different harnesses, one was a crow 6 point cam lock, and the other is a willians.

both worked fine, the willians was BETTER and more comfertable and again better in ever aspect.

also i picked it up for a good deal so the longer last certification was nice

I think the reason the Willans aren't more popular here is just that they're so freaking expensive. The Scroth belts at $275 for a 5-point are kinda high to begin with, and then I think the Willans move upward of $400 or so. They sure are nice though...

By the way, to the original poster, the difference in MOST of these belts is comfort and ease of use. The Schroth belts I have seem to have a finer weave, so they feel a little softer. They also adjust very easily and hold the belts where you want them. I've seen a number of belts that were very difficult to move through the adjusting mechanisms, and a couple that would loosen up as you wear them. The cam design is something that varies as well, as some are easier to use and/or less likely to to get caught on some part of your suit/clothing and unlatch. If you can get to a trackday or race, look around at what some of the other guys have, and try to play with them a bit (with permission of course).

He could also look at the CG lock in the meantime:

http://www.cg-lock.com/

RJ didn't you have one of these, I thought I remember you saying you did at one time and never used it or something?

It's an option to even use with the right aftermarket seat and or until you get a rollbar or cage and provisions for the a harness.

I've had instructors and the head instructor suggest using the CG lock, so I can't imagine it wouldn't pass.

$220 shipped is without a doubt the best deal I've ever seen for a new one. Maybe HMS just has stupidly high prices...

i looked back to the site again, and they have a verson for 270 and then one for 390.

But from the discription i have one of the 390 ones. (it has bling tastic aluminum levers on the shoulder harnesses).

I know i paid around 220 though i wouldn't have let myself pay more
