Default Does your B-series swap mounts make bone grinding vibration?

I've just done my first B-series swap into my 91 Hatch and it vibrate like a motha at idle and while under moderate acceleration. I even modified the rear tranny mount cross member to clear! By searching, I've found that a lot people have this bad vibration as well. Do you? I think is because of the solid rubber/poly mounts. I have not found a good solution by searching, so I'm bringin' up the topic.

This weekend, I'm gonna pull my engine and drill a bunch of holes in each of the mounts, making them look more like stock mounts. Is this a bad Idea? I'll provide pics of the results.

dont drill holes in your mounts...dont be stupid.it all depends on what brand you are using. i was using place racing mounts with my first b16 swap and they were perfect just like stock. i switched mounts over to a set of enjo mounts and it vibrates like a mother ******.its almost unberable at first but after a while you dont even notice it.

What kind of motor mounts are you using?

I think we all know what the vibration feels like. I had them as well really really bad while i was using b-fast mounts for awhile but i recently did the cable-hydro conversion and went with hasport. I decided to get crazy with it and replace them all. I went with the street firmness because its plently firm enough to get crazy with and still be able to take to track on a occasion.

I LOVE IT. I did a lil modification to the rear tranny mount from where the motor mount was doin a lil more bangin on the metal then i thought it would have. I cut it out and welded it back up. Ever since

NO vibrations....feels like a stock motor in there instead of riding in a damn race car rattling the **** out of you.

I'm using Yonaka Mounts. They are cheap $150 mounts. I get a dealership discount from them.

http://www.yonaka.com/product_...ounts

I know the rubber flange that cover both faces of the mount is only about 1/8 in. thick. Other mounts look a bit thicker.

My mounts feel real smooth when I'm cruising above 2500 RPM. I don't even notice it, only slight vibration I feel in my feet on the floor.

I just put a B16 in my hatch w/ Place racing mounts. It vibrates a little at idle but as someone else stated, you dont even notice it after a while.

Although i havn't tried any other brand of mount kits, i did have ES poly mount inserts in my single cam 91 crx and that thing vibrated like a ****. Maybe it was cuz it has 4 mounts insted of 3 with the B16 but i dont know

botom line is that they're 10+ year old cars and theres gonna be weird vibrations with poly mounts, but atleast you'll know your motor is secure and not floping around

I guess I either get lucky buying another mount kit or just live with the vibration. I'm still gonna drill some holes through the rubber. I heard that HCP used to make mounts with slots, providing a smoother ride. I'll make my own slots, just like in Vegas!

Mine vibrate like a **** anything under 5,000rpm. They rattle screws loose, my brain, and everything else to ride in the car over the last 4 years. I guess I'm used to it, but some HAsport mounts would be nice.

Avid mounts.....Only three of them. driver, passenger and rear. With no IM bracket. I HAVE NO VIBE, at any point....it's awesome. Well worth the 300$ i spent.

No but I don't have a mount kit, just poly filled OEM rubber rewelded mounts. Rides and looks 100% stock. I guess this is how they used to do it back in the day.

I bought Innovative Mounts with Street rubber. It is as smooth as stock. I had to modify the rear x-member some, but they are real nice!

http://www.innovativemounts.com/

They have a special domed design that I really think is great for reducing vibs.

What did you have to modify for the rear cross member?

Default vibrations

I had to cut the rear crossmember a little bit for the rear mount to go in properly and cut the front one to have the header clear it. Not much vibration from the engine, only noticeable at idle.

Those things are solid steel and basically hasport copys and the motor sits the same way..You can find them cheaper then $200 though,,
Look on ebay...or infinite-auto.com used to sell them for like $130..I think the brand is called yonaka
