A/C Leaking?
Hey guys,
I searched couldn't find anything. The a/c is leaking water in on my passenger side and I think eventually its going to get over to my drivers side. Anyone know how to fix this. It's a 96 Accord.

Under the car is a tube that comes out by the firewall, on the passanger side, it's the condensate drain, it's most likely blocked, I cleaned mine out with a wet/dry vac, just wrapped a wet rag around the tube, and turned it on, it sucked the blockage right out.
yes...i think i have teh same problem....cuz i started to see drops on the driveway, but they were green, like the radiator fluid.
and today i was thinking bout it...and i just had teh a/c serviced and they put the green dye in it.....so basically i realized that it was condensation and it was proly touching the green dye somehwer making it greeen when it landed on the driveway.
do you have any pics of where this is blocked tube is?

If it is your AC drain tube leaking green water then you have a really nice evaperator leak and you should be out of freon in short order, thank God for Leak Detector.

make sure the evap drain tube is not off ......pass side underdash on evap ........if tube is installed there are 2 ways u can do this ;;
the quick way, get compressed air and blow in the tube thus will temporarily fix the problem by repositoning all the debris inside evap and letting it drain .
or the proper long lasting way.........remove the evap, remove all the debris inside it, probably u need to replace the foam insulators ( they are probably coming apart with all the water in there and will plug evap drain tube again if not replaced )... clean evap with soap to eliminate smell, spray evap with some a/c freshener put all together //

yo devil i agree with Duane if the green dye is coming out of the evap drain tube ur evap is got a big leak and a/c wont work ...
i would pressure test cooling system just to make sure it is not coolant , there are some heater hoses close to that area

okay well...my a/c wasn't working this summer...so i had it inspected...after about 20 mins...teh guy at teh shop said there is a very very small leak..cuz the pressure dropped very slightly. so i told him to fill it up with freon and add teh dye.
he said the leak could possibly get fixed on its own cuz sometimes when the a/c hasnt been run for awhile, the seals are just sittin awkward.
NOTHING drips INSIDE of my car.....only sometimes, i see a green drop here and tehre on the driveway.
also, i was changing my front pass tire...and when i jacked the car up...a whole bunch of water started dripping...i realized it was water right away and assumed it was the condensation.

lol lo no offense but i would not take my car to this guy for at least any a/c work ,,,i have never heard that the seal sits awkward and the leak gets fixed on its own,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,as for the green stuff u see in ur driveway it is most likely coolant i would pressure test cooling system to make sure .

Today I inspected an R134 job that I serviced two weeks ago after installing green dye the customer was gone, now he is back with hot air coming from vents.
Normally to find the dye you need the special light and glasses, upon inspection I noticed actual green drips from an AC hose near the front of the engine, now this was with the naked eye and it was really a big drop clinging to the hose and it was all wet in the area including the rock guard under the van. I thought that maybe the coolant was leaking from the water pump also but I got the light and glasses out to do a real inspection and oh my goodness, it was all dye and AC oil coming from a high side leak at the compressor, really heavy and really expensive looking so off he went to sell the van this winter, if you catch my drift, no pun intended.

Water is still leaking cause I'm being lazy but there is another issue which seems to plague accords. There is a black cable by the a/c compressor, on my car it was broken in two and on a friends it was just knocked off. Because of this we both have been dying for the last few HOTT months. So if someone's a/c doesn't work. It's most likely the cause.

i went and had my a/c inspected again, because of the dye.
the mechanic said the more water that drips onto teh road, the better the a/c is working.
so he found a small leak near the a/c line just in teh area of teh passenger side strut tower. and also he said my condensor is leakin slightly.
is it safe to keep using teh a/c even though the condensor is leaking?

replace the condensor and the leaking A/C line. having the system exposed to atmosphere is bad as water will cause r134a pag oil to break down into a gel. You can replace the parts yourself if you are inclined to do so and then take it to a honda dealer have them evacuate the system and test for leaks before refilling. If you change any of your A/C parts you must change out the receiver dryer (discant) to ensure all moisture is removed from the system.
some pictures from the 4cyl accord

The parts you are talking about are #8 or #6 and the condensor is not labled but is radiator looking thing at the left side.
the receiver dryer is #9
