Default church's dyno pac vs dyno jet MY DYNO AND TRACk TIMES

i just dynoed my car on a dyna com and churches dyno pack. i was told the dyno com was the same as a dyno jet. my set up is in my signature. This place in chatchsworth has a grand opening and had a dyno day. $40 for 3 runs. I did a base line run on the dyno jet at it was 191.9 whp. i dynoed at churches's dyno pack a week later and the base line was 184.4whp. to my suprise it was lower than the roller dyno. both test were all done on 4th gear pulls. After shawn tuned it it ended at 197.8 whp and 151wtq.

i really dont under stand why the power peaks at 7200. its really strange for such big cams.(rs machine cams)

I also went to battle of the imported at fontanna and i got 3 runs in. this was the first time i raced. this was done in a full weight integra on 225/50/15 bfg drag radials.
run 1 15.4 92mph 2.460ft
run 2 15.3 93mph 2.560ft
run 3 15.2 93 mph 2.6 60ft
on my last run i raced a srt4 that did a 13.5 at 96 mph only 3 more mph than me
yeah i know i suk and i'm open for some sugestions on launching.
i also have the much longer geared cable sir1 b16 non lsd y1 trannie with the longer gears and the 4.2 fd.

Couple of things working against you. Your powerband falling off so early and your 60's. Have the alignment checked. Go to Irwindale or LACR and work on your launches. Try to play with your tire pressure and launch RPM to find out what works best for you. You should also find out why the heck your power drops off so early.

ur set up seems to be making very nice peak numbers, you midrange is also very nice as well...
although your track times dont really reflect ho wmuch power your making...
seems like ur trap speeds are a bit low for the power your putting down...definately, your 60' can be improved on....to at least a 2.2 on street tires... that should put you in the 14's at that point...
try lighter, smaller wheels with some stickier tires...

he was on drag radials...

BTW, check out my dyno thread from CAT as well, my first trip there resulted in a 7500 peak similiar to you, it dropped off rather quickly after that. My solution was to add a better header and a 3" CAI.

i had the same itr 4-1 header as you too.. so i'd start there, switch that out and get a new tune.

I thought Church's Dyno was the miracle dyno that put out ridiculously high numbers :sarcastic:

wow...190whp+ in a DA trapping only at 93mph? something's not adding up. my 4th gen lude did 14.5@98mph with a 2.3 60'. not sure how much power it puts out, JDM h22a, AEM CAI, Apex n-1 catback.

I guess work on getting that 60' time down and then you'll see faster times.

Not all DynoJets will read the same, or even similar in some cases. Also, I can't really see the numbers on the pics you provided, were the temperatures very similar on both days?

This guy shouldnt get too concerned with his 15sec passes at Fontana. That weekend was 105+degrees hot hot hot....and just about every car was way off pace than what they normally run.
when the weather cooled down that weekend....everybody was hauling and breaking out.

god damn you must suck at shifting and you are horrible at launching. 2.4 60 foots on drag radials. damn...

Launch rev to 5500-6000 rpm and slip the clutch out (just fast enough so you won't burn out, and not slow enough to burn up the clutch and not go anywhere).
Before that drop the tire pressure to like 20-23 psi.

Try practicing full thortle shifts or just get better at regular shifting.

There is something wrong with your motor, post up what's in it maybe then we will tell you what's wrong with it.
191whp is pretty good considering power cuts out at 7200rpm.

Check your timing, what's your exhaust, other stuff?

BTW my buddy got a 1st gen cable b16 trans in his car, that thing is pretty short.

Nice comparison! I wondered the same thing after I last tuned at Churches compared to the time i tuned on a dynojet.

Also i wouldnt complain about where you are peaking at rpm-wise. I would rather make 200whp at 7200rpms than 8200rpms.

Post your setup b/c even though your cams can support making power to 8-9K(I am assuming by the way you speak of them) somehow you have already obtained VE(volumetric effeciency) and you only make power so far after it begins dropping again. There are many things that affect this so lets see that setup.

set up is in my signature
i did not run the 1/4 miles again. my 15.2 was with a 9.9 1/8th miles
i have however went to an 1/8th mile track and i managed a 9.5
i also do have a long cable y1 trannie
when i end my 1/4miles at 94mph i'm still not close to my 8k redline in 3rd gear

What is your cam's specs?

I do not see why you should be peaking at 7200. Your head is ported(what type of port job though: street or race) as well as your IM. You have a bigger TB, and a 3-angle valvejob. You have the flow, so I do not see why you achieving VE so soon on your engine combo. Nonetheless, be happy that you make that much power so early compared to most who make 200whp at 8500 +.
