Default Silencing A Very loud exhaust *searched*

Ok, my views have changed from what I want my exhaust to sound like, unfortunately I have a skunk2. The thing is unbearable when I don't want it to be loud, and with the silencer its to slow. So basically what can I do to keep my performance and have an almost stock dba level on the freeway? How much would a resonator quiet it down? the main reason I like the skunk2 is its 2.5 all the way... help please.

oh yea, thats if my cars not totalled...

Try to fit a couple resonators in there, they'll take out a lot of the raspy sound and help quiet things down.. Summit racing sells some nice dynomax resonators that aren't very expensive..

For example:

Resonators will definately help. Are you running with a catalytic converter or a test pipe? The Skunk 2/Invidia systems are deafening when run with a test pipe, but using a Cat will help quiet it down.

Im running the oem cat. How much would the resonators calm down the sound and I know this is a dumb question but would it lose any power. Kteller sells i think 14-18 inch resonators that caught my eye. The exhaust isnt raspy, its just literally deafening above 50mph cruising. Or should I sell the skunk2 and get something else with 2.5inch piping thats quietter.

pfft pansy

resonators help a lot.

i had 3 inch piping with my stock muffler and a 18 inch resonator..and i didnt hear anything, unless i went WOT and my engine got loud. so it screams and it blows off. kind of like an orgasm.

i am glad i had my stock muffler cause cops thought my car was stock. i got pulled over one time with my bumper off and my IC clearly showing. it was painted black, so i guess he didnt notice.

You shouldn't lose power. If you do lose any, it won't be noticeable - maybe 1 or 2 hp. The resonators are basically straight pipes that have small holes on the inside core with some sound dampening material wrapped around the core.

Here's a picture of mine on the inside in case you've never seen one:

so youre running the 2.5 with the stock cat??? if your getting a resonator, might as well get a 2.5 cat from kteller while youre at it.
