omnipower shock recall
why is the omnipower shock failure thread locked???
why does discussion about a very serious subject censored? is it damage control by moderators/omni supporters? self interest?

They should recall the front EF's as well.. There's a design flaw with them as they do not lower the car as much as they should !
I have them on my 1990 civic Si.. I am not happy that they dont slamm the car but I'm using it in the winter so it really doesnt matter too much.. it's low enough ! haha and they are cheaply priced too.

I can't remember where I saw it but I read on here that all you had to do was contact omni to correct that problem

oh..I've contacted them.. many times.. they said that I can return the coilovers for a full refund... or I can wait till they nake a new shock body for them.. I went with the latter and hopefully it will be corrected soon.

I've been told. The EF ones are not the problems one. Just the EG/EK/DC, the EF COLLARS ARE THE SAME JUST AS THE OTHERS. I checked mine out and they were indeed the thin ones. Whats it gonna take, someone to bust the collar on a EF and destroy their car and risk their life and others on the road. For the EF collars to get recalled to
i got the same answer you got, only ED/DC/EK collars are the affected ones. maybe i should take a collar off and take some digital pics to prove the measurement. i also have the same problem too of not being able to lower it more than 2" on my DA.

I recieved the new collars today and they measured 20mm thick in the "failure zone". 18mm thicker than the old ones. I tried to take pictures of the measurements but my damn camera wouldn't focus well enough on the tape measure to show anything.

Just as an FYI, Steve called yesterday and talked about his recall/exchange programme and how he was going to do it. He seems to have the implementation worked out well in his head and I hope it goes well when he gets back.
He's thinking about putting a banner up advertising how to get the problem solved if you were shipped the thin collars.
I left the conversation with a sense that he was being honest about his decision, and he appeared to be determined to take his share of the responsibility and see the problem through to its conclusion.

Well, here's the problem: We don't understand why you, with scant knowledge and experience of the problem, continue an ill considered harangue against the man without due consideration to his efforts.
You were temporarily banned while we analysed your posts about this matter, but you're unbanned now.
For the moment, we are choosing to believe that you've just climbed onto a bandwagon without due consideration, and have simply unwisely latched onto this particular issue as a way to enhance your Internet reputation, or it's actually possible you are deeply concerned and honest, but not fully informed.
Our concern over this was sincere enough that we tracked Steve down, and his own concern is sincere enough that he rang us back from Taiwan where he was working his way through this issue with the manufacturer.
I'm going to lock this and ask you please to give Steve time to finish working his way through this, and time to implement his recall programme to full efficiency. You might never see a public comment from Steve until he is sure that he has settled with Brian over his incident, but I think you might see a banner actually advertising the recall.
