Default secondary o2 sensor throwing a CEL after returning car to stock

OK. I'll give the quick rundown here.

Selling ITR.

Took it back to stock which required stock cat and catback.

Put all stock parts on. Car runs great. Slight exhaust leak between catalytic converter and header. So I bought shorter bolts so it would be more snug. Problem fixed.

Heatshield on stock cat was rattling as well, so I decided to take it off.

This required disconnecting the secondary o2 sensor. So I did. Took the heatshield off, reconnected the o2 sensor. Drove for 5 miles, get a CEL.

Pull the code, it's a secondary o2 sensor code. Great. Check connections and wires, all looks well. Reset ECU.

Just went for a drive again, CEL after about 5 miles again. DAMMIT!

What to do now? Why would it come on after 5 miles? I didn't even touch the o2 sensor or take it out when I removed the heatshield. Wires look just fine. Harness looks fine.

I can't sell this thing with a CEL on. Any suggestions? I really don't want to hear "you need a new o2 sensor" b/c it was working fine before I did any of the reverting back to stock.(and b/c I don't want to fork over 300 bucks for one) Car only has 29k on it so I seriously doubt it blew it already.

Thanks for any input.

BTW, between being stock again and removing the heatshield, I drove the car probably 100 miles.

OK...update.

Went out after the exhaust cooled and looked again. There are 4 wires that go into the harness. They are all surrounded by a blue rubber to ensure a tight fit I guess. Anyways, the white wire's blue rubber was hanging out and when I pulled on the white wire, it came out way too easy.

So I stuffed that back in.

Haven't gone for a ride yet, but could that have triggered the code? The whole "5 mile" thing is what's tripping me up however. I'm guessing the car getting to temp has something to do with it.

you might have broke the o2 sensor while trying to take it in and out?

It must have been that wire. I never took the o2 sensor out the second time.

Anyways, I put that wire back in and drove for 17 miles without a CEL. The other times, the CEL came on after 2 or 3 miles so I guess it was that wire that was loose.

i bought an OEM o2 sensor off of ebay, was like $130 shipped. i believe bosche makes it, i could be wrong tho. it matched what was on the car tho.
not for the R, but civic, but the part # is the same. the company was sparkplugssource

great price, was cheaper than i could get at work with the discount too.

The light has totally vanished. I am almost sure, now, that it was that loose wire. Thank god it wasn't something more.

Yeah for the CEL to come on that quickly, I would assume a connection issue.

Bumps are not allowed in this forum. Nice job breaking a rule on your 1st post.

LOL. And it wasn't even me that bumped it, haha.

I'm up to around 60 miles with no CEL. It was most definitely the wire.
