Default white smoke from engine 1993 Civic Dx

I have a 93 DX with the stock d15 motor, I was getting really bad white smoke from the engine and water in my oil so I changed the head gasket, now i am still getting the smoke, not as bad and the car runs terrible when it takes off it feels like it has no power until it gets going. Any ideas would be appreciated. thanks

Did you install the headgasket properly by prepping the mating surface, gasket, and torquing everything down?

How's the cooling system?

Is the car auto or manual?

Do a compression test.

i'm pretty sure you did this but i'm just double checking. did you change your oil after the headgasket? if not then there still might be coolant in your block.

also, double check/triple check the timing. especially if it bogs/ hesitates. happened to me after a headgasket. timing belt was too loose. jumped a tooth. good luck.

car could be burning off what sludge was left on the engine parts after you changed the oil on the car when you replaced the gasket... i would say you have nothing to worry about when you first start it up... it will burn the condensation in the pipes and head off and you'll get some smoke from that, but for 45 min to 1 hr... dude, you're heads probably warped and its leaking coolant in there... hate to say it.. but it shouldnt smoke after that long, or run bad... and do a cylinar LEAKAGE test... or a wet compression test

if you do a leakage test, look for loss of compression over 20 % and bubbles in your radiator

good luck

This sounds so familar. With what everyones said here so far, I gotta ask is it still blowing white smoke or blueish smoke???

A couple of musts on your to do list would be change the oil and do a leakdown test...very important.

As for the car running crappy your probably off one tooth retarded. Check that as well. Id bet money on it....well not really, but Im really sure thats the prob there.

changed the oil again and it was clean, the coolant is still full and clean, no more whitesmoke that i can see, im gonna recheck the timing and hopefully that will solve the problem of the car running bad. thanks for all your help its much apreciated.

rechecked the oil looked fine coolant was still full no smoke rechecked compression: 150--147---110---145. I think I found my problem in cylinder 3.

whats the best way to go, buy a new motor, rebuild, or sell the car, the guy only paid $1500 for the car and its in decent shape. but he doesnt want to get into alot of money.

how many miles on the motor? if not too many, then just do what HondaFanatic708
said. check the block and head for warpage. if it's only the head that's warped then just bring it to any local machine shop to get it straight, probably for around $50.
