Go to consumer reports, edmunds, KBB... Do some research, then make your own decision

edmunds is great.

http://www.edmunds.com

go to used cars, research prices and specs.

92-95 civics are great, good gas mileage, but pretty slow until you do something with them.

in the end, it all depends on what u plan to do with your car

check out a 5gen coupe. probably an ex cause you will get all power everything. very reliable, looks goods, handles well, and slow enough that you wont kill yourself before you turn 18.
Best of all, you have an awesome base to start with and unlimited possibilities. swaps are easy, turbo kits are less and faster and imho more fun.
hatches are neat if you like them, but you they are bottom of the line and no power unless you get an si and then you only have power mirror and a sunroof.
because of daily driving, i just put power locks, windows, and mirrors in my cx

good luck!

well he's on "HONDA-TECH" askingwhat kinda car he should get, i assume he already has a built interest in hondas...

....deep down inside you guys wanna say something like "GEt a civic their the best cars ever!" but no, with the fact that he's a newb and with all the ricers out there you snob this guy out....

to the orginal poster:
foraround 8 thousand dollars you could get a 96-00 civic ex which have vtec, are good on gas, reliable and look clean....or u can opt for a 92-95 civic whcih will only be around 4g's and youll have money left for simple bolt on parts....it's the same as above except it might be less reliable because of it's age...but hell if u buy a beat used car no matter what year or you buy a car that was well maintained ull get your results

you can get a 96+audi a4 for that much,
might not have super low mileage,
but they come in 1.8t or 2.8Lv6, and have awd available(thought for 8g's u won't have THAT Much choice in which model u get)

those cars are gorgeous.
