Hey folks,
I'm prepping my car for my first autox. After I installed the Sparco/Schroth Clubman (Double Buckle) harness, I took my car for a ride. I used the seat belt as well as a safety precaution. Anyway, after a while, I started to feel nauseated. I'm guessing it's because my body is absorbing the gravitational forces more than normal. I drove home, then later, went out to meet some friends. On the way home from the meet, I tried driving with the harness again and still felt nauseated after 5 minutes or so. I tried searching around the web for others who have felt nauseated while using a racing harness, but no cigar. I'm hoping this is normal and I'll just get used to it...
Thanks!

Nausea from Track-Driving, at speed, is common.. just ask Yack or Willard
, but Nausea from just the harness, on the street?? ..out of the ordinary. Of course, I don't know how you were driving.

I really prefer to move my top-half around alot when autocrossng. I used a harness once and felt like I was losing my "motorcycle banking" sensation. It also put more strain on my neck.
Now I use a simple G-Force torso belt down around my waist, right over the stock lap belt. It keeps my butt and feet under control, but allows me to lean deep in the corners:

For some reason I thought about this post this weekend and had an idea. Does your car have an exhaust leak? If your exhaust has a small leak in it, and you drilled holes in the floor to mount your harnesses you may be getting carbon monoxide poisoning..... just a thought.

I think I got nauseated because the shoulder straps were too tight. Now, when I tighten the lap strap, I tighten the shoulder straps to minimal slack. I'm still "testing," but I haven't noticed any sign of nausea in the last few runs. But when I just use the regular 3-point seat belt, I feel like I'm not wearing any belt! It's sphincter-tightening! hah Thanks folks!

you have to remeber that the sholder straps for them to be effective in a crash need to be nice and snug. They are going to strech in an accident and if they are loose and then strech you could end of making contcat with something you dont want to. Just something to keep in mind.

Yeah, I tighten them so there aren't any slack in the tail strap. I'm gonna invest in some shoulder pads, though. I heard they really make the shoulder straps comfortable...
