Default B18C easier to drop in with front crossmember and front bulkhead off?

Hey guys,

Pretty soon I'm gonna be dropping my B18C back into my CRX. I already have the front bumper off as well as my PWR shorty radiator. I will also have to take out my Full Race adjustable radius rods so that they dont get bent in the motor reinstall. By this point I'm only a few bolts away from removing the crossmember, and the front bulkhead.

I was wondering if I remove these parts would it be way easier to drop the motor back in? All I have to do is remove the crossmember which is 10 bolts. Then there is the upper bulkhead which is held on by 4 small bolts. This is the part of the front frame that has the hood latch. Then I could just remove the lower bulkhead which is held on by a few bolts too.

With all that other stuff removed I could use that huge gap in the front to manuever the whole engine sorta like I'm installing the motor from underneath. I can just jack the car up a little higher. I'm gonna try this out next week, and see how well it works. The reason I wanna try it this way is to see if I can get the motor in place with no help. If the motor comes from the top I need help to make sure nothing gets hit. But now I'm "dropping" the motor in from the front.

i got my b16 in that way i removed my cross member and put the front of the car on huge jackstands and put the motor on a piece of wood on a jack and jacked it up in the car, by the way you need the wood going across the bottom of the oil pan because the jack wont lift high enough in one try i put the wood under then at max height put jackstands under wood lowered jack and put some 4x4 blocks on then jacked up again, you really need 2 peaple to do this one person has to hold the motor so it doesnt fall, got the motor in and bolted up and installed the crossmember in 30min

Well I still have a engine hoist I can use. So instead of jacking it up I just use the hoist to raise lower it.

I just put my B18c in myself. Crossmember is removed, bumper is still on, but i removed the T bar (where your hood latches). I didnt have problems. I dropped the motor straight down, but at an angle (tranny more forwards, and motor more towards car) and then once it clears both sides of the car I was freed to move it around as I liked. Just slide the motor, still attached to hoist, further back in teh bay so the rear bracket ligned up and then proceeded to put my mounts on.

Easier than i ever thought it would be and it was my first time. Had the wife nearby just in case.
