Default New type s owner here

Hey guys wazzaaa, I just recently purchased my first acura. Red rsx type S, and i love it. Only beef is wtf is that dumb sound the front makes when i turn slowly around corners and stuff. Also I really want to upgrade the engine with a turbo and stuff. Im new to the whole "tuning cars" scene, last car was a civic ex. Well I saw the cybernation turbo stage III i think which gives 300 wheel hp, is that any good? thanks guys, any help would be great.

first of all, welcome to honda-tech! i hope this forum will help you out when you need help. you came to the right place

congratulations on the rsx! as for the "dumb sound" from the front, where in the front are you talking about? do you know if it is coming from the engine bay or inside the car, near the dash? there really shouldn't be any sounds. it should be smooth and quiet.

as for the turbo kit, i do not recommend cybernation. their kits are very popular because of the great pricing, but personally, i believe that the kit is unreliable. however, cybernation has been upgrading some of their parts for better reliability, so you can give it a try. i recommend the full-race or greddy turbo kits. full-race might be pricey, but their quality is unsurpassed. greddy is also a very reliable brand and might be a bit easier on your wallet. if you have the knowledge and motivation, i suggest you do a custom kit. you will know what to fix when something malfunctions, and plus the reliability is determined by the parts you purchase.

once again, welcome and congratulations!

ooh not a good idea to rev that high, you should keep it under 3 while breaking it in

thanks guys for the welcoming. My name is markus by the way, and my friend thinks i should go N/A, because he thinks boost is no fun. My question is after turbo'ing the engine, how much does it cut off of the "life" of the engine. I mean im thinking N/A will not kill the engine as fast, but im new to the whole racing scene, so forgive my 'noob'ness. Can you get a 05 type s N/A running good times at the track? or just boost it? I am really excited about my new ride. Another question is: the clicking sound the car makes when i turn when going slow, is that a bad thing? I've read posts on here about people complaining about it, but they say its a noise that annoys them, as long as its nothing that is serious or will break etc, then I dont realy care about the noise. Last thing, any advice about which turbo kits to buy? cybernation? greddy? thanks a million guys. Anyone in the tampa area that wants to hit the track with me in bradenton post, i need some racer buddies.

a cybernation stage 1 kit will give you over 300 hp. A stage three is like 450+, and barely even driveable with fwd. Congrats on the rsx you'll love it, I love mine

there's a section in the manual that talks about breaking in....it never says anything about keeping it under 3k, only to avoid hard accelaraton. You should not have changed the oil until 5k either

well why in the name of ;alskjf;alsj;flkajsfd would you wait till 5k miles to change the oil? From what I was informed, new oil is your friend. If you finance the car, and you mod/ race it, i've heard you can be dropped from your insurance? Technically it makes sense, cause the car isn't yours yet, but it sux.... Any insight on this topic? I had to finance it for 6 years because it cost so damn much lol.

And changing the oil before 5k doesn't even let the oil warm up and get in the parts.

And to the OP, if you're new to the tuner scene, don't even THINK about a turbo kit yet.

Markus, it'r real easy to get mad ambitious and ahead of yourself with tuning cars. I know you're excited and everything, but don't do turbo unless you've read A LOT on it and get experience with it. Otherwise your car will explode in the first week.

Guy who posted earlier saying wrong and wrong, well have a nice day. I am new to the scene yes, but not a dumb shat. If changing the oil that early were a prob Acura (where i got it changed) would have mentioned something about it. I will read alot about turbos, but i know people with them, so they will help with questions etc. If i did get a turbo then i would def build the engine to handle it and would get professionals to install it most likely to avoid any problems. (ie blowing up engine haha). I love the sound of vtec....

not hating, but here are my observations:

1.] acura changes your oil because either a.] you have the money or b.] you don't know how.

2.] situation "a.]" cannot be the case because you said your 60 mo lease for a type s "cost so damn much"... the very reason I drive an eg instead of an RSXS and change my own oil.

if you are broke and cannot change oil, you don't need a turbocharged car.

you don't have to baby the car when you are breaking it in. all that really matters is that the piston rings and seals have to set in right so don't just don't beat the living crap out of it. but it should be fine now to do that.

what happens if you change the oil before that during the break in process?
