Hey Rylan,
Good to hear you are coming, Tom Lepper and I will be there in the Integra's and Phil Malgren will be running our EK Civic Type R. Our new Crew Chief "Scooby" will be unveiling his beautifully engineered and prepared B18 Type R powered EG H/B.
Derek has his Motor back together and will be runnng strong again.
Of course Dave, and Marty and Alex will be there in their exceptionally fast S2000'S (School Girls Cars) Toms K-20 #65 engine internals are still looking good after it's compulsory tear down for inspection after every 4 hrs racing. We've sorted out a lot of the original construction faults in the car and it should be a match for the S2000's
My car is running great now, and we should have a great weekend with Speed Ventures, with lots on new cars. As this is not an SCCA Sanctioned event, you don't need an SCCA Competition License. It will however carry points and prizes for the Honda Cup Championship. And cars must be built within the Honda Cup Rules.

We look forward to seeing some new faces, and we are hoping that we can get our EK Civic Si ready in time for the "Import Legend" himself, Andy Hope to drive?
Special Projects Motor Sports has some cool stuff coming up in the future which will allow us to introduce some new, and some well known drivers at various events. It has not been confirmed for this event yet, but we are looking forward to an extensive Magazine coverage of our Team and future Honda Cup events. So get your ego's on and have your wax handy.

Is there going to be a Bikini Contest? Cool!
Are you going to wear your Thong in the middle... or to the side?
If you wear it to the side, it stays cleaner ... According to George Lopez

The top cars should be getting close to 1:30.0, weather permitting.

I will testing some 'special aerodynamic devices' for Willow.

With the Cyclone... The longest route?

I didn't know Honda Cup had track records... Cool! I hope I can beat my times in the Civic Si at Buttonwillow with the Integra?

I'm sure that 1.31 Time, wherever that came from? for Willow Springs will soon disappear...

So, who exactly does sanction this event? I guess the usual SCCA medical coverage won't be available, right?

Medical/Rescue will be out there as in a regular SCCA sanctioned event.

I would hope so, but that's not what I was asking. Believe it or not, there are some advantages to racing under an SCCA sanction. One is included medical insurance.

But more to the point, if Honda Cup is an actual region-only SCCA-sanctioned series (rather than just ITE cars with a nice banner on the windshield) why are you guys running w/out an SCCA sanction. Seems to me that that is not the way to increase your exposure (in a positive light) in SCCA and achieve all those lofty goals that Kiwi speaks of (like the Runoffs in the near future )

Everything you say is quite correct....

And this event is an exception because when we first set up Honda Cup and tried to get a reasonably spaced callender in place, the only available dates for SCCA events made it neccesary for us to have at least one event out side SCCA or Cal Club's calender. (A recruiting drive if you will) The club has always been kept informed of our plans. As Honda Cup is in the enviable position of having it's own committee, and provides its own Prizes and Trophy's we were able to do this. This Speed ventures event will hopefully give HC a little more exposure, and encourage more Non SCCA (Honda)Competitors to take part. Unfortunately the entry numbers show at present, unless a potential competitor drives either a Miata or an RX7 There is not much point in even attending a Cal Club event...
Please... No reflection on Mazda drivers!
It would be nice to change that trend.
I detect a touch of cynicism, even sarcasim in your post? Do you have a problem with the growing interest and possible success of Honda Cup? Or do you just have a problem with any change in the way Cal Club works? If not, join us and check it out.

Cynicism, yes. Sarcasm, no. As an IT racer back east who for a number of reasons no longer races w/ ECHC, I'd like to see you do well. Having had contact w/ Rylan and the many of the Speedventures crew from my S2000 days I have no doubt that the event will be held in a safe manner, however this casual observer would not think that running outside the auspices of a major sanctioning body would bode well for your goals.

Your digs at Cal Club aside, the major orgs do offer far more than just tin-top IT-type racing though that may be all your target audience (ie. your customers) are looking for. That certainly doesn't imply that things need to be turned on their heads and you imply that perhaps your association w/ Cal Club isn't as rosy as it could be. If other SCCA members (it's a club, remember, not a business like NASA) choose to run Miatas or RX-7's or Stohrs or SRFs that's their choice.

Besides, my only real problem is your huge "for sale" posts as part of your signature. Whether your latest endeavor succeeds or not concerns me little.

Ok,
Your points are well taken. No argument here?
As far as this one event being held outside the auspices of Cal Club? I can only repeat my previous post, and no digs were intended.... I don't think anyone cares! It's not doing Cal Club any harm, and it gives us (Honda Cup competitors) another round in our series.
And as far as our?/ My?/ Honda cup competitors? relationship with Cal Club goes... I don't know whether you are addressing us as a group? or just me as an individual? Were just like any other Club members... Everything is "Rosey" We are all entitled to our opinions and I for one, thouroughly enjoy my membership with SCCA.
As for my "For Sale" Post?... (Deleted this time just for you) Buy something and make it shorter!
