I've been debating back and forth about the setup I want to get... and I just figured "go big or go home"

What turbo is the best for the fastest spool time on a GSR?
SC61
GT series?(which?)

I'm only looking to push 300hp untill ALOT later down the road build the engine...
daily driven/drag/some auto-x

SC61 wil do but the a GT30 has quicker spool and will keep it's breath up top

if you're seriously concerned about spool time, back away from the sc61, it's kind of a pig.

 

for the power you are looking for I would go with a GT28rs, that thing will spool almost instant and will make 300hp.

sc61 is far from a fast spooling turbo.

 

k, the question is.. cheapest place to buy the gt28rs?

 

what manifold do you have, if you are going to to with a T3 housing you can find them on here for a good price.

i didn't say the sc61 was a fast spooling turbo. I said it will do but the GT would be quicker spool wise and hold it's on up top.

but that wasn't the question, putting sc61 as an option of "fastest spool turbo for GSR", just doesn't work

anyhow, yes the sc61 WILL DO, but it sure won't be the fastest

this may be a little off topic, but dotn you have to run water cooling lines for the gt turbos?

 

not 100% sure but i think it's optional?

btw, do you have a budget?

 

yes water lines need to be run for gt series turbos

i got a GT2871RS . i hit 15 psi by 4300

 

I wish I would have went with a smaller turbo rather than the sc61 so long ago because of the slooowwww spool. Or better yet bore to 2.0 =\

 

I've been running an SC34 on my b18c for a little over a year now, I'm very glad I didn't get any bigger of turbo! This is definatly the largest turbo you want to put on your b18c if you want a comfortable daily driver. My turbo starts to build boost around 2500rpms and is fully spooled to 8psi by 3500. If I were to do it all over again, I would get an even smaller turbo. btw I mostly use my car as a daily driver with some autoX.
