It now has it's built B16a motor in it which now runs. Using hondata s200. All the quirks figured out but one. Some funky *** idle problem. Not hunting idle, but it sounds like the motor is starving for air at 5% to 10% throttle. Above that it sounds fine. No road time on the motor yet though, just sitting in the garage running. Once the guages are done and windshield in, it's on.

just cause it's a viper doesn't mean anything.
last weekend at CA Speedway there was a viper in ITE who got passed by an ITS BMW driven by John Norris. The viper was being pushed by the BMW in turns, but would pull away on the straights.

you're also right though. That civic's not gonna be very competitive with the B16. Unless it's all for fun, but it seems like a lot of effort went into that civic.

either way, car looks nice so far, and most importantly, Have Fun.

And at the end of the day we all go home with no cash. So **** it. It's just for fun. And yes, I really like hondas. 3 years for the civic man. Lifetime for the viper.

I don't know about your region, but in Rocky Mountain, there is an over 3 litre, and under 3 litre. 1.6 = under. 8.0 = over. Not in the same class. But I'm sure I can pull a spec miata.

it means the civic won't be anywhere near competitive.

In my region the fasted ITE-U car was an E30 M3, next an RSX-s. Call it a hunch, but I'm pretty sure I can pull the RSX-s. E30 M3 is another car I'm working on right now. I've pulled every all motor rsx-s i've raced at the drags in my EG coupe with less mods than my race car. Anyway, it is just for fun.

Sounds like our SPU that we have over here in the central. That car wouldn't be legal in our version of ITE

hi there.

"pull" isn't everything. in fact, on a road race track, it is only one component of many in a formula that equals fast lap times.

i think you can have lots of fun with that car racing wheel to wheel. ask around here, and folks will help you out....

first thing to do is ditch those front rotors. you are gonna crack them like a cheap piece of stained glass. you want undrilled, standard (blank, if you will) rotors.

is there any kind of weight limitations in your class? if not, get that car down as light as possible; it will help your brakes and tires to live....

good luck and have fun!

Would just the motor make it illegal? It would be ita if I stayed with the stock motor and brakes. According to SCCA here, that's the only reason I'm in ITE-U. I'm too used to my B-motors to race with a D series. I know I'm not going to win by any stretch of the imagination, but I just like track time.

Plus, according to the the rules here, if you turbo, you add 1.3 litres to you total displacement. I would still be 2.9 liters and in the ITE-U class. Something well within budget, but hondas belong all motor in my mind.

My dad has 3 2002's. He races in ITB and EP with two of them. The one in the pic is soon to have an E-30 m3 motor in it for street use. Dads a nut.

HEHEHE I love you ITR guys. Always positive. I like feedback. Positive or negative. We all have opinions. I'm not looking for respect among a bunch of people I don't know. Just figured I'd show some pics. I built this car while going to school and working a shitty *** job. All in all, I give myself all the respect I need. Thanks for your info.

It's a given if you post pics of a car on here, you're going to get flamed. It's the honda-tech way. I figured I would just invite it. That way, I wouldn't loose so much sleep when you guys did. hehehehehehe

Scott, who can't deny you the respect you seek...you've worked too hard...Have fun in ITE - it's all good.

Oh Discordia!

Scott said it's all good. He's found peace. The stars have aligned and all the answers are revealed. Somehow I smell more chaos (and more questions) from this 'enlightened' statement.

Anyhoo, nothing to add except best of luck going forward with joor project.

Chris - who can't put down the last Dark Tower book... and has just about sold his EF project [for a good cause].

I know, I know, but I figured it would be a given that a 2100 lb car would out break, and out handle a heavier car. Nothing is a given, but I've had enough track time to know how to set the car up fairly well. No weight limit in my region. Car is currently under 2000 w/ driver, wet, and no glass. Planning on running lexan on the rear three windows and glass windshield.

i think you can have lots of fun with that car racing wheel to wheel. ask around here, and folks will help you out....

Thanks!!! When I hit the track, I'm sure I'll have plenty of Q's.

first thing to do is ditch those front rotors. you are gonna crack them like a cheap piece of stained glass. you want undrilled, standard (blank, if you will) rotors.

That is what I requested, but was sent those instead. I'll run them for now. Car is going to be slowly brought up to speed. Budget doesn't allow to hit the track 100%. They should hold out for the 1000 mile break in I want to do with the motor.

If you're not doing this all you're doing is DEing with a cage.
<shrug>

Earlier this year I scored a runaway victory at VIR. Nobody was even close.
Last week I finished 2nd in a knockdown dragout at Road Atlanta.

Which race will I still remember 10 years from now?
Yeah. Exactly.

If you are going to go out there and drive around in a really fast car for 30 minutes all by yourself... Just friggin DE. There's no rulebook and its cheaper.
JMO.

Scott, who says if you are "racing" you should actually be doing some "racing" because IMO thats the best part of "racing."

Ditch those poly trailing arm bushings.... get OE Rubber, Mugen, or Sphericals in there.

Damn, I thought those were a good thing. What kind of problems do they cause? Do they not act consistant? I would love a spherical bearing design. Who makes them? By the time I fabbed them, I could have bought a pre-made unit most likely.

I'd be Very Surprised...I've raced hundreds of motos and can only remember a handful of details from a few races - and the same holds true for my friends who look back as far on about as many races. I mean...they didn't all end in a concusion.

The only thing that will stand up to time is the adage "the older I get, the faster I was".

Scott, who's mentally, financially, legally, and temporally Much further from racing than he could have imagined a couple of months ago - Totally Sucks...but I gotta "get er done"...

Hey Scott, I'll give you a few bucks for those Motons.
These single adjustable Buddy clubs could be improved upon.

Hey man, nice work and thanks for sharing.

As far as club racing, there will "usually" be someone out there to race against... isn't there a thing called Honda Challenge that this thing could be legal competing in? (H1 or HU?)
