Default Dirty Spark Plugs

I recently replaced my spark plugs which I had been driving on for about 30k miles. It was my first time replacing them myself and I noticed when I took the old ones out, they had black crud all over the top edge of the threading and near where the elctrode protrudes. Also, the electrode was a white color, looked to be corroded, as was the part that sticks up below the eletrode (not sure what that part is called).

Anyway, I was reading in my manual and it said the black crud means that my teg is improperly tuned. I'm pretty sure they replaced the sparks about 30k miles ago, unless the mechanic lied to me or just didn't replace them. Does anyone know what would cause that? Is it something really bad or fairly common? Is it just because I could have been running the plugs for too long? The dirty plugs were some copper "Bosch super" plugs if that makes any difference...

Also, I am running some sort of modified OBD-I computer chip that I got off a buddy of mine that is supposed to increase the air/fuel ratio. Also have a Comptech ram intake and a magnaflow catback exhaust... Not sure if that would make any difference tho...

Any opinions on that? Thanks...

I just put some new NGK platinums in so I should be good. Not sure what program is on the ECU. I don't know if the ECU i'm running is improperly tuned, and maybe thats what was causing the black crud on my spark plugs? I was told the chip was a J-Spec chip, but I really don't kno for sure and that could be BS. All I know is it is an OBD-I chip because I had to get a harness to convert it from my stock OBD-II.

Seems like your plugs are fouling. Make sure you're using the correct heat range. Be careful using platinum because I heard they foul faster.

um why dont you run your stock ecu and see if that fixes the problem.

imo you dont have enough mods to run a chipped ecu

Well I put the stock OBD-II chip back in. On the modded chip I noticed a sticker that said B16A1 on it so could that mean the chip was made for a Civic engine, and not my B18C? I have been running the modded chip for a good 30k miles with what seemed like no problems, until I came accross these dirty spark plugs...
