Default latest in Action clutch troubles. 2KS

here's what's been going on: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1314250

cliff notes: gears refuse to go in, looks like clutch is no disengaging fully, 2 shops say clutch is the issue (not master/slave cylinder)

ok, had my mechanic open the tranny up and replace the clutch (if broken) with ACT HDSS.

the clutch disk of 2KS looks MINT. look like it was brand new. for kevlar. rocket wasn't kidding when he said it'll outlast everything on the car.

now, the real issue was the pressure plate. somehow, pressure plate wasn't functioning properly...i'd like to take pics of the pressure plate, but how can i tell what's wrong with a pressure plate? i hope to get this fixed under warranty by Action, i just hope that they'll honor the warranty since it has not even been a year since i bought/installed them.

just wanted to see if anyone else with action clutch was experiencing this as well?

on the other hand, ACT HDSS...wow, drives just like stock and smooth like butter.

definitely different than Action 2KS, as i'm sure Action would be able to handle more abuse, but as far as the drivability goes, HDSS gets 2 thumbs up from me.

mechanic said not enough pressure, but i'm not sure what part could be responsible for having "not enough pressure"?

all i can say is action kevlar disc is garbage for a performance clutch. if you want to keep your car stock and just want to upgrade the clutch, then the 2ks is a perfect buy. my 1ks burnt up after 3 months with just weekend racing. my cm stage 4 lasted 8 months, but took some serious, i mean serious abuse.

same thing for me well under high acceleration its really hard to shift compare to my old clutch...well I can shift but if I could I would change it. The pressure plate sucks.

2MS on a 300whp SOHC here.

did your clutch disk (kevlar) burn up? with me, the issue is not the clutch disk, but the pressure plate. the mechanic tried to explain it to me, but i couldn't really understand what he was saying... something about the fins not moving completely i believe.

i'm only making 222wtq, i think ACT HDSS would be fine. wish i had gone with it in the first place. but lessons are learned.

i just hope action would replace/fix the broken pressure plate.

I was going with action 2MS on my 300whp b series but I never search before, those clutch seem to have a lot a problem regarding shifting gear.

I'll look for something else, maybe act hdss+6puck sprung.

I had the same problem with my RPS clutch. I had to adjust the clutch pedal because it wasn't releasing the plate all of the way. I know more than a few people having the same issue, and it was fixed by adjusting the clutch pedal.

No problems here with my 2md. Only 350 miles or so on it, but it's holding very well and shifts are smooth.

i had a similar problem as well...i coulnd't get the thing into gear when the car was running...

It turned out i dinn't torque the bolts holding the pressure plate enough. When i pressed the clutch, it was actually moving the entire pp rather than pressing on the splines/springs and releasing the clutch. All i needed was to tighten the bolts....The clutch itself if fine for me. I have the 2ms/md one of the two and i dig it. I liked my stock exedy better but this is pretty good as well.

geez. and here i am about to order my action 2ks hmmm...which clutch is most like stock? hahaha. i don't want a hard clutch to push down all the time, is your act hdss a little bit softer than the 2ks? i heard the 2ks is mostly like stock?

to get a clutch that is most like stock, just get one with a heavy duty pressure plate, and an organic disc. If your running under 350whp, you might just want to look into the exedy.
