Can I use a simple propane torch to do exhaust work, or do I really need something closer to oxy-acetylene? I'm trying to go as cheap as possible, since I don't have the room, or budget, for a proper welder.
Its been a few years, but I used to be fairly good with a MIG and an older style stick welder, so I wouldn't think it should be too difficult for me to do some simple exhaust work. Any tips/suggestions are welcome.

If you want to be super super ghetto about it. You can get those little map/oxy setups from home depot. I would only use these in the most extreme of pinches and i'm not even sure the would burn hot enough.
Nope. MAPP gas is for brazing. You could braze a set of charge pipes together but the brazing would melt out in the intense heat of the exhaust.
The absolute low-down cheapo method is to spend $80 on an Ebay-special flux-core wirefeed welder. Hell, I made 5 complete exhausts with mine before I decided to upgrade to a MIG.
