Default What do you consider stock? And what do you consider built?

I know this question sounds stupid. But recently I been arguing with my Nissan friends every day. They have these VVL Nissan motors with there immitation Vtec, and they claim that its better than Honda Vtec. But everytime me or one of my friends beat them. They make up an excuse by saying that we are built, or we have more work than them, or we are lighter than them. They never take a loss.

I have a H22 in my ek with Intake, Headrs, and exhaust. Would you consider that stock? They try to claim that i have headers and they dont, and thats why i beat them. But everyone one of them are running stand alone , and i try to tell them that stand alone is more beneficial than having some headers on my car. But they dont listen to that.

Then they try to switch and say the only reason i can beat them is becasue of my weight. THey say if i weighed as much as them. THey will kill me. I tell them its not my fault Nissan decided to make there cars that heavy. Thats your fault. You build your car to win, not to complain about everything someone has done to there motor. I look at dropping weight as the same thing as adding performance parts to your car.

My friend has a ls vtec in a crx, with CTR pistons, and crower stage 2 cams. They claim that as being fully built. and thats the only reason they will lose to that car. I try to explain to them that the whole block is all OEM, but they say that forged internals will make no difference in power, and that the all oem bottom end is considered fully built. What do you guys think about? Would you consider that built.

Bolt ons are technicaly not stock, and depending on what yo uhave they can be VERY potent.

Stock means the way it came from teh factory. Period.

Built means either large amounts of headwork, valve train work, or bottom end work.

Yeah technically. But why should they even try and race anyone , if they are going to complain about the person having more work than them or less weight than them if they lose. I think they are a bunch of sore losers. You run what you brung. Only rules to me is that your all motor. I dont think you can complain about each and every little thing someone has done.

i think stock(assuming we're talking allmotor) is anything that's not internal to the motor. i/h/e, i still consider that stock.. because the motor is still stock.
but ITBs is a different story.

but really, who gives a ****?
