IN MIDDLE OF SWAP, NEED QUICK HELP
were swapping a B18A into my winter crx, the B18A came with a/c, the crx does not have a/c, we were wondering can we use the crank pulley from the crx, then use the alternator from the crx with the B18a motor, or can i use the crx alternator without switching pulleys, thanks guys
its not my question,im asking cause the b alternator is seized, i wanna know, can i use the d pulley on the b block, and use the d alternator, on the b-engine, k. thanks anyways
Im using a d series alt. with a b series crankpully on my swap. I dont use one of the ribs on the crank pully tho. Seems to be working fine for about 4 years now.

Damn does anyone ******* read?
HIS QUESTION: CAN HE USE THE CRANK PULLEY FROM THE D-SERIES ON HIS B-SERIES. OR, CAN HE USE THE ALTERNATOR FROM THE D-SERIES ON THE B-SERIES WITHOUT CHANGING THE CRANK PULLEY....****
And to answer his question, no you cannot use the D-Series crank pulley on the B-Series. I THINK you can take the B-Series Alternator pulley and put it on the D-Series alternator, but don't take my word on that because i'm not sure.

I don't see why the Bpulley and Dalternator wouldn't work. Misalignment would be your biggest problem (if that arises) otherwise you can always play with belt sizes til you find one that fits.
Amazing that nobody has tried this though......

1) NO ~~ you CANNOT use the d-series crank pulley on the B-series engine
2) YES ~~ you CAN use the d-series alternator on the B18A.
To use the d-series alternator you have to loosen the top braket to get the bolt to thread into the top alternator adjuster tab. Also you have to use a different alternator belt than either of the stock b-series or d-series engines come with. The B-series pulley is a 4 rib, while the d-series alternator is a 3-rib. Find the right length belt in a 3-rib and you should be set.
I've done that part "swap" many times and it works out just fine. Also with the d-series alternator you don't have to smash the inner frame rail to get the alternator to clear.

Do you have to leave the top bracket loose to get the D alt to fit? If so that sounds pretty ghetto.

I dont see what the big issue is here. I used the stock D series alt. and eathier the B series alt. bracket or the B series one. The D series one is working just fine, and there isnt really any ghettoness involved accpet that the crank pully on the B series motor is like 4 rib and the d series alt pully is 3. So you basically run with one rib showing but like I said Ive never had an issue.

No you don't leave it loose, that would be stupid. But sometimes it takes a bit of maneuvering to get everything lined up right. Thus the reason for have the top braket a tad loose in the beginning.
