Default Loss of Tach signal.

Alright well here it goes. First off, I searched and found a couple things to look for. One, obviously check for a signal from the blue wire at the dist. Two, check the connections in the dist. Three, check behind the dash.

What is strange is how the needle died. I was showing my buddy how my car feels, it seems to hits rev limit at 7100 RPM when the limit is set at 8500 (I read it on my VAFC)(the false revlimit has to deal with tuning issues so dont ask about that, Im running a SOHC 13.1 mini-me and my buddy and I have been tuning it on the butt dyno.) then it just shot back down to 0 on the dash and has yet to come to life. Car runs and revs fine.....the tach did no bouncing prior to this so Im not taking the igniter into consideration right now.

Any other ideas or some kind of info on this strange occurance would be appriciated.

Thanks

Matt

I think i would check all the connections first. Check the connection for the distributor. Then check inside the distributor. There are 4 wires that go to the ignitor. One of those wires is the wire for the tach, the blue one. I would check to make sure its still there and that it hasnt fallen from where its suppose to be. I believe the cluster gets the signal from the ignitor so it would be a good idea to start there and work your way back.
