Who do you guys use to take care of dings
Some ****** at my work left me a surprise ding last sunday. It is right on that "line" that goes along the door towards the top where the medal starts to go straight downward. How much does it usually run per ding or panel?
in the dallas fort worth area there are tons of shops that do paintless dent repair. there are a ton of mobile dent repair guys.
they come to you. if you can find something like that, i strongly recommend it.
i think it is like 40 bucks per dent if you only do a few.

Well my car is actually in the shop now for other repairs from when this chic hit me but I figured that PDL is a specialized type of thing that not all autobody shops can do as good. Is there a larger commercialized company for this or should I look in my phonebook for local companies?
My detail guy does touch up work and dent repairs...one stop shop.
I think there is a franchise called "Dent King" nation wide, could be wrong but ive seen it here and in Florida...

this may take more effort than you want, but there are mobile dent poppers that service car dealers.
they set up accounts with a dealer and then they send thier flunkies out to pop dents e few times a week.
if you can run into one of these guys they will work some under the table kind of work for you.
my business is related to the car business so it i run into these people all of the time.
like i said, it may be more trouble than you want to track these guys down.
my advice, just talk to the used car manager a any dealer and ask who they use, and then ask that person.
its really cheap

I wash my car once a week, on Sunday, after church. Yes its a religion.
Its not the wheels, because i spray simplegreen on those and the engine bay and everything hoses right off. Its the quarter panel sections behind each wheel. After a day or two, no matter how easy I am on the brakes, I get brake dust trails like I haul *** for pay.

get a small brush to clean those areas, keeping a coat of wax there helps

its really cheap</TD></TR></TABLE> DO NOT DO THIS! Never settle for the cheapest guy around... They lack the skills to fix dents correctly.
This is the problem with dealerships... They're always looking for the cheapest guy around and don't care about quality.
I worked in the DFW area for almost 6 years and seen alot of hacked up cars that these guys put out... News Flash!!! THEY WORK CHEAP BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT GOOD... They crack paint, push high marks all over the place, and drill all kinds od holes.
It takes years of experience to master P.D.R. It's not something that any Joe can go to school to learn in two weeks.
It's not the tools that take out the dents out it's the person. The dents don't just pop out. There are so many variables like, how to read the light, where to push, how much pressure to apply, what tool to use, and how to access the area without drilling.
I havn't seen anyone in this buisness with less than three years experience that is any good.
Find a local dent shop that has a good reputation... And that doesn't always mean Dent Wiz most of the time the Dent Wiz guys are new to the buisness and are not as great as you would think... They are constantly training new techs that don't have a clue...

i have had many a dent removed for cheap and they did quality work.
the reason it was cheap is because it was under the table.
the guy i use has been doing it for years, but i still didnt pay an arm and a leg for it.
its no different than having a good mechanic fix your car on the side. you save money because you didnt go through the shop.
this isnt rocket science.
i realize that it takes skill, but i gave him the car with dents and got it back without. what else is there.
i guess since i didnt pay full price the dents are just going to magically return in the future

I have seen so many hacked up cars around DFW and it's not until I point it out that anybody ever notices... Now I don't know if he did a good job or not but I'm speaking from what I've personally seen.
But hey maybe you got a good deal, but most of the time you get what you pay for in this buisness.
I Just want people to realize that your not getting a bargain if they are drilling your car full of holes to save time, or cracking the paint because they don't know what they are doing.
P.S. I have seen guys that have been doing this for 10 years that suck... It takes alot more skill than most people realize... It's like giving someone some paint brushes and than expect them to paint like Da Vinci...Some people will never be able to get it right. PDR really is an art form. It's not the tools it's the technician...

i dont want to sound like an *******, but it sounds like a sales pitch.
i dont see where theres a grey area
car have dents. car no have dents. problem solved
i guess i can see how someone could cause damage, but im not really sure what you mean.
are you talking about someone causing damage that is not visible? i am really not trying to be a dick, im just confused as to what could go wrong
if they suck at it and its an artform like you say, wouldnt you just be able to tell that they are not doing right when the dent is still there or a new one is formed

Alot of people don't know what to look for and therefore cannot see the damage done. There are certain angles and lighting conditions that will show this kind of damage better. Most people when they look at a repaired dent will look at it straight on and out in the bright sun. You have to get down and really look at it.
Most of the time the guys that work real cheeep will drill unescessary holes, push the dent high and wetsand the crap out of the dents. I'm going to have to start taking pictures of this kind of damage for future referance... I can probably find some online.
