well i just bought my second honda accord and i need some help with a few things. the car has a oil leak that looks like its coming from the valve seals. and when i get on the passing gear ( its an automatic ) it blows out a big cloud of smoke. also what does the sport shift thing on the tranny do? anyone?

You can replace the valve cover gasket for the leak, it sounds like that's what you really mean? The valve seals leak into the ports, they don't leak OUT where you can see. Don't overtighten the valve cover bolts - they're easy to break.

Smoke... How old are your normal tune-up things like spark plugs, etc.? What color is the smoke? Does it smell like oil or antifreeze?

The sport shift thing is supposed to use different shift points, shifting at higher rpm. With sport turned off its probably more reluctant to downshift.

 

valve seals leaky? when u pulled your plugs where they oily? or do u mean the valve seals that lock oil out of the cyl.?

 

well i have some oil on top of the valve cover, i also have some oil scented smoke shooting out of the exhaust when i get to 4500 rpm or so. so im think the valve seals may be bad also. im not sure on the plugs and wires, they seem in good repair but i need to pull out a few plugs to look i guess. how do you pull off the plug wire from the plug w/o breaking the tip of the wire breaking off?
