ok, im trying to remove the axle nuts on my 92 civic cx, the 32mm ones on the end. Im using a breaker bar thats about a foot long with an extension thats about a foot, and ive been sitting on it and jumping on it... all ive managed to do was bend a tire iron. I bent out the indentations, put deep creep on, still nothing. I had trouble with the ball joint, too. Is there any way to get the axle out of the transmission without removing the end nut? Or are there any tricks to getting the axles out? need help asap! thanks

 

I supppose if you wanted to do all the extra work, yea you could get the axles out without removing the nut, but you will have to remove the whole knuckle basically. Get yourself a good 32mm impact socket with a good impact gun. Should come off.

Oh, and use PB Blaster.

 

1 ft break- pshh- stick a 3 foot pool on the end of that and you should get it to move-
yea pb blaster or wd should help to

 

yea the problem is im bending the tire iron and the fence post im putting between the wheel lugs... I would get an air compressor and stuff but i dont have the money so i guess i might go get a long pole

 

If you just need to get the axle out to change out the clutch, you can remove the bottom bolt from the shock fork, move it out of the way. Remove the nut from the tie rod. Then just move the whole knuckle assmebly and pull the axle out of the tranny without taking it out of the spindle.

Actually....its not the tie rod you want to remove, but take the nut off of the bottom of the lower control arm. Its the nut in #13 in this picture.....its from the ball joint to the lower control arm:

 

i tried that but i couldnt get the ball joint out. My dad said we could pick up an air compressor tomorrow, so maybe that will help

After you get the nut loose.....wack the control arm with a big hammer HARD! until it pops out.

 

get a 3 foot extension, and gain few extra pounds. Spray it with PB blaster, heat it up with a torch and start jumping on the breaker bar.

 

i think i'll pass on the weight gaining

 

have the wheels on the ground, pop off center cap, have somone hold the brakes, spray soem PB, remove cotter pin, get yourself a big *** pipe for leverage, use the proper metric socket *poof*

 

yea i tried to do that without a person on the brakes... wheels just spin lol
