I just bought a 2002 Honda EX V6 and it has a strange brake problem. After the car has sat for a few hours (like overnight), after starting the car, the brakes become unresponsive on the fourth brake petal press and the car will continue gliding. The brake petal sinks to the floor. I can pump the brakes and then they come back. After that, they will work okay.

This is an intermittent problem and I have brought the car to two different dealers who have not seen the problem. They have checked the brake system and do not see any problems.

Any ideas?

 

Probably a bad master cylinder.

 

how many miles if less than 36 k might be still warranty

 

It has 34.5K on it and I have the extended warranty. The car has been in the shop more than I have driven it because of this problem.
