Dyno: SMSP vs Mugen
Mods: TWM 52mm ITB/motorcycle sock filters/AEM EMS tuned by myself
The rest of the engine mods are Jun cams/SMSP header/SMSP exhaust with Sard muffler/UR pulleys
Head and bottem end is USDM stock w/ 10.1 compression
Our local Dynanometer reads about 10% less than Dynojets, as bone stock Preludes are averaging only 140whp on this dyno (vs 154whp on dynojet). If you want to translate my numbers to dynojet figures, multiply 206 by 1.1 would be fairly accurate.
Im also running AEM big brakes and 18" wheels, so numbers could be higher w/ stock brakes and smaller wheels setup.
I was able to do a run just before header swap for a more precise comparison:
196whp represents BLUE line, which I had Mugen header & T1R exhaust. Its a little lower than last time (200whp) due to hotter intake temperature
RED line (206whp) is w/ SMSP header & exhaust.
SMSP 206.3whp@~7700, with over 200whp on tap from 6800 to 8700
Jun cams with SMSP is such a killer comboMugen 196.3whp@~7100, power started to fall off after 7400.
At 8000 there's a difference of 16whp(205 vs 189). The gains would be 25whp if I revved to 8300 with Mugen setup. Now if I extend the Mugen curve out to 8700, the difference would be a whopping 35whp (200 vs 165)!!

The Mugen headers for H22s are 4-2-1s. I believe the collector outlet is 60mm ID, please correct me if I'm wrong.

no its just proof on how much power the smsp stuff makes...
this doesnt mean the mugen stuff is garbage, it just shows how big of difference the smsp race header is over a regular off the shelf header...
make a comparision with the stock mugen dc greedy and all the other off the shelf mass produced headers, and that will show you how good the mugen really is...

even if you compare a mugen header in overall quality to the other listed above, you can see a difference in the welds and the flanges.
i believe that VSBB6's Mugen has a 2.25" collector...the smsp is just amazing..great job on the header build too..i've seen it in person *bows down*

Infact if I revved up to 8700 with Mugen, I would land @100 lb-ft, @ 100 lb-ft that's just 165 whp. While SMSP still makes 200whp, the gains would be a whopping 35whp!!

Mugen is comparable to SMSP only before 5700, when VTEC kicks-in it got KO'ed.
What Im really impressed with my dyno is the power curve. As stock H22 tends to run out of breath after 7000, mine peaks at 7700 and keeps the power over 200whp until 9000. This makes a huge difference because I can shift at a much higher rpm and keeps the power up.
As a number of stock Prelude dyno'ed only 140whp in our Dynanometer, using the same formula my car would be putting 206 x (195/140) = 287 at the crank.
