well last night i was getting some gas and a friend of mine pulls up, and we were talking about how to hook up some gauges in his car, well he asked how i have my Oil Pressure sending unit hooked up. well i poped my hood and how i have it hooked up is there is a steel braded line that runs into the back of the block and then to the sending unit well i go to show him the steel braded line. and thats where it happend, it touched the main wire on the Altnatior and then it Blazzed up, so i run inside to get a fire Ext. and they say "why whats wrong" i say my car is on fire and they say well there is one out side on the side of one of the pumps well i run up to it and i look at the box its in and there is a ******* lock on the box well i look at the box for a min. so then i punch out the box cut my hand in a few places and put the fire out. Well here are some pics of what happend i took the just a liitle bit ago b4 i came to work.

 

god that has got to be the shittiest luck ever.

It should still run for sure, i didn't feel like messing with it any last night after i got it towed home. but after i get off of work today at 5 I'm going home to clean it up and see about starting it up!

Thankfully it wasnt as bad as it could have been.

well i told the people there if i have to pay them and money for breaking the box i will, but after thinking about it, I"M NOT! lol

 

considering you all could have died because of that, they should be more concerned.

yeah i didn't think about taking my time to open it. cause at that time i was thinking about every one else cause the steel braded line tha was in the fire was an oil line and then you have your fuel return line right there also. and i wasn't gonna some **** like that happen!

Did you ground yourself first before touching it?
Static from your body can create enough spark to
ignite fuel...just a little FYI.

So always touch any grounding point on your car
before pumping for gas. Those fumes can ignite as well.

Insulate your wiring better and move or insulate the steel braided hose. Split loom is your friend.

 

Even though it sounded pretty funny, I think I would have shat my pants. I always shut my car off, ground my self and don't re-enter the car while the gas is pumping but I'm definetely getting a little extinguisher soon.

i would!!! not long ago here in the springs a man got kiiled cuzz his truck caugt fire and he was in the middel of the pumps so he got in it to drive the truck out of the other cars by the time he putt it out of the station it exploded and he died on the spot. But realy you should do some leagal sueing especily since the had the extinguishers loked WTF is up that that i think is stupid

I used to think having an APC fire extinguisher mounted inside the car was pure rice. Maybe they have some use after all. lol.
