While clearly not a replica of the Mugen piece, Comptech's Icebox more or less utilizes the same basic design principle (an enclosed airbox drawing cool air from the fender area). I've seen no back-to-back tests comparing the performance of the two, but most generally agree that if Mugen doesn't fit into your budget, the Comptech is a decent, less expensive option.

Well said Padawan, And I agree.
But remember once you have the Mugen Intake You will never buy another one.

There was a replica mugen airbox on ebay a few months back, it was made from plastic/ABS and looked roughish on the outside, but was identical in shape/design to a genuine one. It possibly would have performed the same also. I forgot about it and when i went looking for it the auction had ended and it went for $100 or something like that

Some of what makes a Mugen intake worthwhile is not only the exterior parts, but also that big velocity stack that's inside/just after the filter!

Oh, and it fits even with AC and ABS, with a little patience and work.

I don't think finding a quality replica will be a problem here in just a few more months.

I'm glad you put it that way.
Got some numbers (dyno or otherwise) to back up your hypothesis/suggestion wrt that other system?

I'm not saying that the Mugen intake is the 20th century of sliced white bread or anything, and presonally I prefer forced induction ... but you gotta work with what's available.

So you made a suggestion without knowing if the product even works?

The most informative info would be before and after dynos after just replacing the intake.

The Mugen intake and a custom exhaust helped my torque curve and HP considerably. This was with a rather common DC Sports 4-1 header.

Why would you suggest something you don't recommend?

Don't get me wrong, the PRM intake could turn out to be the best intake for a B18C5.
