Is this necessary, my buddy went over a speed bump in his crx and half the heatshel snapped off to it would hinge around and make a really anooying rattle. So he ripped it off...

How necessary is it? should we purchase a new cat?, its just a flimsy peice or steel/aluminum, i can mold and bend it as i please so it cant absorb that much heat...

 

Not necessary, just don't get any cold water on the hot *** cat or manifold.
