Default Is a block swap worth it? want more power

I currently have a b16a in my 1g crx. I want more power, ideally I want to be somewhere in the mid to upper 12's on street tires.

I was thinking of swapping in a b20 short block with CTR pistons, arp rod bolts and head studs.

My head currently has crane stage1 cams and valvetrain, aem cam gears, mugen n/a headgasket.

Id run a honda LSD tranny with my 6puck stage 3 clutch that i have now. Im thinking this setup would be good for at LEAST low 13's in my 1800lb car?

If you want to run 12's then definately swap in the bigger block. Dont use the CTR pistons in it though, the piston to wall clearance will be off

I would think even a near stock B20 would be enough to run 13's.

You are right about the ctr pistons to. on me. Would the swap still be justifiable running stock pistons?

you cant just swap blocks ya know...gotta tap the b20 block for vtec.

I thought you said your hatch weighed 1800 lbs...more like 2100. My friend got it weighed out at a truck station. Just a little fyi. he had a b16 swapo also.

keep your b16. do a lot of headwork and cams to match. this + a good gearbox should put you in the low 13's EASILY.

Swap the block and go 2L IMO. If you go 13's on a 1.6,imagine having 40+ more ft/lbs of torque!
I gained .5 seconds going from 1.8 to 2.0 on street tires in a 2300# hatch.

dont be a trendy ricer b*tch. keep it real with the b16. IMO, the b16 is THE strongest honda block. all you need is headwork and tuning.

it also depends on what you are trying to accomplish. if you wanna drag, then get rid of the b16 for the biggest torq monster you can find. if you wanna have a fun street car/badass road racing car, and rev to the moon, keep your b16.

There is a bore size difference between the B20 and B16/B18 block. 84mm compared to 81mm, do the math.

Here is a easy solution...build the head and boost!

On the all-motor side, i'd go with a b20 block.

Well, Humble ran low 11's with a mild 1.8 build with M22 cams. I would definately go with a 1.8 set up for the reliability go with better pistons and cams while you have it down and 12's are do-able. Skip the B20 route unless you have the coin to do it right...and even if you did I would still say build a 2.0 out of a 1.8 block.

if all you want is more power, a little n02 never hurts
