well i was just wondering what u guys think, if i put some stock b16a cams in my gsr head. Now the reason i want to do this is because i have a b18c1 in my crx with my oricinal wire harness, so i am using a chipped b16 ecu ( i beleive it might be chipped to gsr specs). now the problem is i have a skunk2 intake manifold, and it just doesnt seem to haul ***. It seems like it lags from 4400 to redline. so i was thinking it might run better with the b16a cams. What do u guys think.???? please keep in mind that i have a b16a ecu,and the s2 im. thanx

No the B16 cams won't help you out. If you run R-cams you would probably be better off. You should look into why your motor seems like it it lagging. It may be other reasons (sensors not working, timing off, dirty injectors, etc.) that is causing your motor to "lag".
running b16a cams is like going backwords... the lobes on thoes things are almost non existant.. try itrs, they are the easiest and probably the least expensive to get a hold of, other than going aftermarket, with toda and etc

yeah, but the reason i want to run the b16a cams is because the b16a ecu is compatible with those cams. you see the b16a ecu is not compatible with the gsr cams. you know what i mean? i have some b16a cams laying around, so the idea popped in my head. ohh and i have no cel's, and the timing is good, injectors, i dont tink thats the prob..but ill by some injector cleaner just to make sure...

what in the **** are you talking about? of course you can run gsr cams with a b16 ecu. i ahve been running them for over a year in my b16.

The ecu doesn't care what is in the car. You could be running toda C's with a stock ecu if you were that stupid.
FYI, the older (1st Gen.) B16A cams suck, buth the newer Si and Del Slow VTEC B16 cams are THE EXACT SAME CAM PROFILE as the B18C1 cams .... just thought you guys might like to know that ......
It is good to replace the older cams with newer cams, but swapping B16 newer cams into a GS-R will do absolutely ZERO for you ......

ok, then why is it when i put a stock pr3 ecu it runs horrible..... i even swapped a mugen chipped one and it still ran like ****. i have pr3 that i took to go get it chipped at ericks racing, and i just told him that i had a gsr motor, and he asked if i wanted other things like no knock, 02, **** like that. Anywasy that ecu runs hella alot better than both ecu's i mentioned before. so i know that its not my car that has the problem, its my ecu! hey typer0207, thanx for that info on the cams being the same.
The car's probably going lean 4400 to redline... with the skunk2, and the GSR cams and 1.8Liters all on a little ole b16a ecu...
Get a fuel pressure regulator and bump up the fuel pressure 5-10 PSi... and live a happy life.

yes i can hear vtec kick in at 4400, and i did notice my plugs were a little to white. but i thought with me adding an external fuel pump that would be enough. i will be checking on my fuel situation, and see if i am in need of some. thanx

well ill be damned!!! that was the problem..... but now what should i set the fuel pressure at?? i have it set at 60 with the hose on. thanx alot for the help guys.
There's really no way to tell what it SHOULD be.
Just set it to 45 and see how it feels.
Then set it to 55 and see how it feels.
If it feels better at one than the other, try changing it more in that direction <ho/low> 5 psi at a time.
*** dyno's should tell you within 5 PSI where to set it.

Trust me, if the stock Type R map is 52 psi off vacuum (and VERY rich - I leaned it out as much as 5% with my V-AFC, AFTER all the bolt-ons), then there is no reason he should be running that high, unless his fuel pump is shot, injectors are clogged, or needs a new fuel filter ......

Well, is he putting down 178 whp/127 wtorque from his engine???? Doubt it .....
That's what I was doing AFTER leaning it out, on a B18C5. Your numbers may work for him, but he'll be running way rich then .......

you should get an air/fuel guage, it will help you tune better. you shoul d also get your throttle body bored out. only cost ~$150. i had bored TB and Skunk2 IM in my gsr and i got big hp gain from mid to high rpm.
Mannyman, I'm a glutton for punichment, apparently. I haven't gotten to the track ONCE int he year hat my car has had the turbo on it running properly... It really sucks. I've got a whole lot of SMALL issues to straighten out...
Shortblock:
.010 overbored B16a with endyne pistons and eagle rods, STR block guard.
Head:
ITR manifold, JG throttlebody, ITR cams, ITR valve springs, 550CC injectors, otherwise stock
Turbo kit:
Fmax manifold, 4/3 hybrid turbo <.50 Compressor, .48 turbine>, custom downpipe, deltagate, custom piping, Spearco water/air intercooler, GReddy BOV.
I run it at 8 psi for now, cause I haven't dialed in my Z-Dyne very well, but once I do, and I get rid of other naggleing issues, I should be pushing about 15-18 PSI.
I HOPE to hit low 12's ANY 11's in this car.
I Hope.

well actually i have one, but when i chipped my ecu, i had them removed. so the ecu doesnt see the 02 sensors. so i just disconected my air/fuel gauge. i will try and eventually get a egt gauge, but they are expensive *** hell. and i already have a bored out tb.thanx
