Default FS: EFI Systems PMS + Interacq software (better than AFC's)

I was cleaning out my basement and came across a PMS computer from my project turbo GSR. This unit is much better than the Apexi AFC's. Allows much more control.

The Programmable Management System from EFI Systems is a state-of-the-art microprocessor-controlled engine control system . The PMS reads the stock fuel injection and spark timing signals from the engine's control unit, then changes them to the settings that you specify via terminal or PC laptop entry. This allows different fuel and timing adjustments in 500 RPM increments to be made for the following engine states:

Idle
Part Throttle
Wide Open Throttle
Boost
Nitrous
Air Temp
Engine Temp

The PMS includes specialized functions for maximizing the performance of turbocharged, supercharged, and nitrous-oxide fuel-injected engines, including turbo boost control, for engines that are equipped for it. There are also two user-programmable switches that allow the PMS to activate power adders like nitrous oxide, with two stages that need to be activated at different times. The non-volatile storage area of the PMS allows you to create and store three different performance programs for different operating conditions; For example, you may define one program for the everyday street use, one for the track, and one for maximum highway performance. The PMS even gives you the ability to change individual settings or programs instantly, even while driving.

The PMS can monitor your stock engine control unit and give you the ability to control the engine's timing and fuel curves. It controls the timing in one-degree increments and the fuel in two-percent increments.

The PMS makes the use of aftermarket performance "chips" obsolete. All aftermarket chips are a compromise between performance and everyday driving, as the chip maker cannot burn a dedicated chip for a car without having input from that car's engine control system. As you may see from looking at cars at the local drag strip or street, not all cars of the same type having the same setup (i.e. stock or modified) have the same performance. The other problem that you face with "chips" is that they cannot be re-programmed for changing conditions or different engine modifications. The PMS gives you the flexibility to modify and maximize your engine's performance with just a change to the data - at any time - whether driving or just sitting in your car.

With the release of our optional InterACQ PC Software, you can capture, log, and playback performance data on a notebook PC. You can also make changes to your program sets right from the PC.

The INTERACQ Win is a data-logging and editing system that enhances the Programmable Management System by adding a monitoring capability using a laptop PC. Because it is difficult to monitor the PMS in real time using the hand held terminal, the INTERACQ system was developed to enable users to record a run at the drag strip or a lap around a road course, then stop and play back the recorded data to view how the car reacted to the changes made by the PMS system. This provides a baseline for future changes. The INTERACQ Win system will also allow you to make all changes from the notebook PC by uploading and downloading data sets to the PMS. You can modify data sets, every 500 RPM beginning at 2000 RPM, on screen, which makes programming the PMS even easier and more user-friendly. This software also gives you complete access to all the setup and standalone features for even more control. It requires a Pentium 300mhz processor, or better and 128 Mbytes of Ram. The software will work with Windows XP as long as you have an RS232 port or USB adapter. The operation manual for this program is located in the manuals section of this site.
