Default XTD flywheels, has anyone used one?

I'm looking in to picking up an XTD flywheel from someone in town. It's their 8lb Ultra Light model. I have never heard of the brand and couldn't find much about them except for this:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1095583
Has anyone run one yet? It looks decent, it's all alluminum with a replacable steel friction surface. I just bought a used ITR flywheel, so I'm having trouble deciding if I want to sell that and pay a couple extra bucks for the XTD unit. My other option would be to machine the ITR wheel a little and try to get it down from 15lbs to 12-ish lbs.

Any opinions or recommendations on this?

Thanks for the info. Are you using an XTD package with the clutch and flywheel, or just their clutch?

I had one of these cheap no name clutches and it was pretty bad. The pressure plate was so soft and it engaged at one specific point. Kind of like an on-of switch. It wasn't even a puck clutch.

From the feel of the Exedy clutch, it feels like it's gonna be much more linear and better drivability.

Here is a little more detailed information about these XTD ( AIMCO clutches ) from a customer that I wired up his DA Integra to run a JDM B16.

Him and his buddies dropped the swap in, but tried to plug the RH drive JDM harness into his US car. They couldnt get the car to start and ended up blowing up some fuses in the electrical system.

My company was hired to sort out the wiring. Got his car up and running. Life was good. He was happy.

Fast Forward 3 or 4 months later and he calls me and askes if I have any clutches and lightened flywheels in stock.

I said, " I thought you said you changed the water pump, timing belt, and clutch before you installed that used JDM motor?"

He said " Yeah I did! It was some cheap eBay clutch I found on the Internet. Now I know why it was cheap! I learned my lesson."

Keep in mind, this is an all motor stock internals B16 and this clutch is already giving him problems. He said the pedal feel was wierd right from the get go. He even bought a new clutch cable from Acura to make sure it wasnt a worn clutch cable he was feeling.

This is my only experience with these clutches through an individual that bought one. Im only listing what I have seen. This could have been an isolated case, but I wanted to share what Ive seen.

I personally, have not used them myself, but judging by the pictures, the pressure plate "FINGERS" dont seem to be as thick or closely resembles pressure plates Ive seen come from the likes of NAPA or AUTOZONE, but re-painted.

Only time will tell if these will be proven to last. If youre not one to take chances, just stick to a clutch company that has already made a name for themselves.

Its your car, its your money. You usually get what you pay for.

In terms of the flywheel, there are usually only a few manufactuers that make them. Many are rebadged pieces. Find out if you can who originally manufactured it or note any close similarities between them.

I used one for a while on my H22, worked great. I'm selling it now since I went with a B tranny.

I bought their stage 3 combo, still have not used it yet. But I took some high res pics so everybody can see the detail of this product. The pics they show you on ebay don't show any detail....

the high res link is below each pic so I dont kill any 56k users

(just to see if the rumors of them putting their XTD sticker over a name brand manufacturer's logo was true.... the stickers on the clutch/flywheel had nothing under them)

Don't get those, slip after of 6 months of use. Just because it's a puck style doesn't mean it's gonna grab. Pressure plate design and the friction material has a lot to do with a good clutch. Looks don't mean ****. I have Action 2KS now, never going back to cheap ****.

So it sounds like the clutches are still questionable, but how are the flywheels holding up?

I don't have one quite that light but on my b16 my 9.5lbs(or somewhere in that area...it's under 10lbs) exedy flywheel feels great. It definatley likes to raise and drop the RPMs much quicker than the OEM flywheel. It does take a little getting used to but after about a week I was cool. I can't vouch for any XTD products, just thought I'd share my review of a lightweight flywheel on a NA motor. Although with turbo apps it's best to stay above 10lbs because it causes it to spool really damn quick.

I really dont like taking a risk with new companies.. if i were u id stick to some one thats been in the business for a while.. Fidanza and ACT are great choices in my book they have been around for quite a while. and i used fidanza in all 4 of my cars and everything was perfect from the get go.
