I run Honda MTF with a Lucas Oil blend. You have to fill it until it overflows out the filler hole when the car is on a level surface (about 4qts)

Use Honda MTF, Penzoil Synchromesh, or GM synchromesh. Do not use GM synchromesh Friction Modified (there are two types of GM SM; the standard and the FM) unless you have a grinding problem in your tranny. You can spend more for the synthetics, but it's not really necesary.

4qts? The capacity is 2.3 for a B series and 1.9 for a D (approximately.)

Also, I would never put lucas in anything I own:

GM Synchromesh and GM Synchromesh FM are only available at a GM dealer. They are both sold by the quart, and should be replaced as with any other MTF fluid you would use.

I beleive Chrysler may have an FM type additive available, but I'm not totally sure.

I have Syncromesh in mine like mentioned before get the friction modified or else the friction unmodified will be too "slippery" and can ruin a tranny.

Where talking about a transmission here not an engine. You can not over fill a Honda manual transmission.

You sir are an idiot.

Explain to me how the transmission fluid, which is designed to resist foaming, became aerated?

if you put in 4 qts you must have let about 2 drain out before it would be at the right level... and yes you can overfill a tranny... you can put in too much and plug it before it gets a chance to leak back out... and for the last guy... i didnt know that it was designed to resist foaming... i learned something then... so that makes me an idiot?... and you know EVERYTHING right????... i doubt it... so that must make you an idiot alondside all the rest of us

The fill line is the hole, there is no way you can over fill it. Unless you have a funnel that is a perfect seal around the hole, then you would have to pull it out quickly, and plug it. Almost impossible to over fill it. Not if you had the car jacked up in the back, there might be a chance.

No way? There is always a way and to say there is no way is stupid. It may not be probable but it is defiantly possible if you do not know what you are doing or you do it incorrectly. Even if your funnel is not a perfect seal if you put 4 qts in there pull the funnel out and then plug it right away you will still have at least 3 qts in there if not 3.5 that stuff can only drain so fast.

On the other hand Honda says that the compacity is 2.2 quarts on a B series tranny I beleive, but if you have a brand new transmission or one that was rebulit you can fit close to 3 in there even letting it fully drain.

Thats why you keep an eye on the hole, once it starts dripping out, pull the funnel out and bolt it back up.

Also, if you jack up the passenger side of the car and lower the driver side (with wheels off) you can put more fluid in there than supposed to.

Manual says like a little over 3 quarts on a complete rebuilt tranny or about 2.3-2.5 for a regular fluid change.

What would be the problem with say jacking the car like I first said and adding in extra oil? Just curious.

He does have a point, but if you have the car at an even level, then there's no possible way to overfill it. (At least by a lot)
