spuddering problem on 95 accord
i have a 95 accord ex and it developed a little spudder between 1.5 and 2.5k rpms and 40-60 mph. but it i give it gas the car will downshift and the spudder will disappear. so i did a full tune up with plugs wires cap and rotor and now the spudder has gotten worse. but once i give it gas it disappears. has anyone experienced this or know what it could be? i really need to fix this. thanks
I personally have not experienced this condition, but I'm willing to add my two cents.
Are there any other problematic symtoms which go along with this ? Rough idle ? Quick to downshift? Lousy fuel economy?
Most technicians will tell you that the most successful diagnosis are from a series of clues (symptoms) which point to the cause.
I suspect a vacume leak from any of the hoses which make up the engine control system, but this normally contributes to lean misfiring at idle / off idle conditions.
Any other observations you can come up with will help, and perhaps entice others to get in on this conversation.

I also have a 1995 Accord EX i just picked up last week, it has the 2.2 VTECH and does the same thing, seems to be an idle adjustment or some type of air/fuel mixture adjustment, This is my first 4 banger so i have to reseach them alot more but I am thinking of changing to premium fuel to see if that makes a difference.
thats the thing it idles perfect!! only when i hit 1.5 and 2k rpm it does it then if i give it gas it downshifts and its fine. it does this in all gears but does not do it in neutral. anyone know?
Does it start breaking down (misfiring) if you powerbrake thru that rpm range??

Perhaps it's nervous about the sub base closing

lol they need to close this base. too much rice from all the navy people lol.
but it only spudders if it downshifts at any speed before 65 mph. or shifts into 2nd. but if you give it gas it goes away. its an automatic btw

yeh, and it will probably cut down on all the Commuter Commandos charging south on I95!!
in the morning.
Let me mull over on this one. I'm trying to put my finger on what would interfere with the a/f ratio at that rpm/speed. I'm thinking along vacume hoses, but let me do some asking

i am in the process of changing the fuel filter today. what i dont get it if you floor it it picks up fine with no problems. it only occurs when i give it a little gas and let it shift through all gears.

Try disconnecting the vacuum line to the EGR valve to see if it clears up.

Didn't change anything or it didn't do it?

It's not a problem with the egr system then.
