Default DC header

I just bought a Dc sports header for a 92-95 civic. The o2 censor is at the very end of the header. If i extend my wire to fit will it bring up a check engine light, because mine is a one wire not 4.

Yeah it will work but not as good. The non heated 02 wont get hot enough.

put your stock sensor in the back and gently pull the o2 wire(on engine harness) farther out of the loom it will reach

well basically you need to convert to obd1 to run the 4wire o2

However i have heard of people using 4wire with obd0. I guess they hook the signal wire up like normal and then put power to the heater wires. Dont take my word on this though im not sure exactly how people do it

Well i know the 02 needs to get hot to get a good reading. But i had a 1 wire 02 on a 92-95 header and it seemed to run decent

If you just want the wire to reach the O2 port on the header, don't touch the wiring. Just slit open the split loom and pull the wiring back to about the thermostat, then get some new loom, tape it up, and drop it down to the header. Just did this for a DC on my EG.

Don't touch the wiring unless you can do really good connections. O2 sensor wiring has to be perfect.

Isn't that going to burn up the heater?

I'd just stick with the 1 wire O2... the heater is just to get the O2 working faster, its emmisions stuff. It is a good idea to run shielded wire, less EMI.

It is only on when the motor is on, and also the heater allows the O2 sensor to be placed anywhere as there is no longer the need for the exhaust gases to produce the correct temperature for the sensor to function correctly.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by suspendedHatch &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Don't touch the wiring unless you can do really good connections. hold up. i used a 92-95 DC 1 piece header on my CRX and it worked JUST FINE.

o2 sensor was JUST long enough if you routed it over the tranny.

i did not have ANY sensor problems with a bosch replacement sensor. i passed california smog several times with it. i see absolutely no need to use a 4 wire sensor. it gets plenty hot enough.

how many ppl who have commented already actually have used a 92-95 header on their car? it seems a lot of ppl are giving advice on speculation....

oh yeah, the only other issue youre going to have is that the rear mount that holds up the header isnt going to line up wit hthe stock one. i never bothered to find a way to support it. i just left it alone.

although, ive been told its best to use that because then all the support is at the exhaust manifold bolts and gasket at the head, holding up the whole exhaust pipes. which will cause a lot of stress and vibration and rattling since the rest of the ehxuast is just loosely suspended. i never had a problem, but i feel that i have to explain that to you anyway.

maybe if you get thee z6 support bar itll fit properly... or just fab up your own.

</TD></TR></TABLE> What you can do is only mount one bolt to the block, so that way it extends a bit. That way both bolts will attach to the header supporting it.
