ZC DOmed Pistons
I have a D1616
Thinking about putting in ZC domed pistons
BUT i know its best to re hone the block
Is this absolutly needed??????????
Or can I do it with out taking my block to a machine shop ????
would like to just pull old ones and plug in the new ones
thanks
Jeff

And if the crosshatch is worn on your bores, the rings will not get sufficient oiling and you could have serious issues later on down the road.

I agree with everyone else in this thread...get it honed or you will be paying for it in the end with lots of smoke and low compression. I remember a while back I helped a friend rebuild an old d15 and he decided to be cheap and just throw new rings and pistons in the block without a hone. It was ok at first but it started to burn oil and smoke like crazy. Needless to say he ended up rebuilding it right the second time around.
If you're using new rings (which you SHOULD), then get a rehone.
If you don't, there's a GOOD chance you won't get a good seal ESPECIALLY w/ our trick Chromed faced HONDA rings.
what's the use of HIGH compression with 50% leak down???
