*** Problems, Problems, Problems. Any wizards?
I have a 1993 Honda Accord with over 150,000 miles on it. It worked fine up until about a month ago. Now....every once in a while it WILL NOT START for periods of time. It is not dead, in fact it seems like it is going to start.....but then it doesn't. Then....if you leave it alone for a while, often times, it will then start. There have been times it hasn't started in the morning....afternoon....night. Then the car will work perfect for a couple days and then it doesn't work again.
I took the car into a shop and they said that it wasn't the Spark Plugs or distributor and they cleaned out the fuel injection system and gave it a tune up. They seemed confident it would be better....but I don't think they did anything. It then worked fine for a week and I thought they worked miracles..........but today....one week later....after work. IT DID NOT START. 30 minutes later. It started.
Does anyone have any insight to this problem. I am very confused.
thank you VERY MUCH.

This is probably a really stupid question......but you said:

Is this something that I can easily do at home? I really do not know anything about cars....but I am trying to learn. What exactly do I do?
Go Packers.
Thank you.

does your tachometer needle jump occasianally?
if so it could be a possible ignition coil going bad.
my advice though, get a voltmeter and a haynes manual for your car and check the voltage at the specified terminals on the ignition control module. this is located inside the distributer. first take off the wires, then the dist. cap, then remove the rotor, then the dust sheild. you will be able to see it, its a little box with wires connected to it, after you pull them off there will be four (i believe) male-spade connectors comming out, check this as this can cause this problem you described. it happened to me with the same symptoms...

you can do at home you need tools to be able to do some sodering ..
relay is located left side under dash if you have cruise control you need to remove the cruise control unit box out of the way 2 10mm bolts.. the relay has 7 wires going to it ,, it is kind of rusty/brown in color, once you remove relay take it apart just pry those 2 little tabs ... look for cracked soderings some times you might have to use a magnifed glass......resoder the cracked sodering and put together '''
