Default A/C Compressor Cluth problem

I have a 97 Civic DX with roughly 162000 miles on it. Last summer the air stopped blowing cold. I went to fix it today, finally, and I noticed the clutch wasn't engaging. However, I sprayed it with lubricant and tapped it, and it kicked in and worked just fine. So, has it just rusted or should I replace the clutch...and if so, how much does one usually cost a brother?

Does it still work normally ? If so don't replace it.

Yeah, when I tap it with screw driver, it kicks right on. But what would be causing it to catch?

Could be rusted, if you have to tap it then defintly get a new one. Check to see if you are getting the correct volts applyed to it.
