Default Help me spot '99/'00 EX/DX at the junkyard

Hi all,

I need to pick up an ECU connector from a 99/00 Civic DX or EX at a junkyard

1) How can I tell the 99/00 apart from the 96-98?
2) Where is the ECU mounted?

TIA

The ECU will be located underneath the passengers side kick panel on the interior of the car. Honestly i believe the plugs are the same, they may be different, but both are obdII so there shouldnt be a difference. Here's a helpful link.

An easy way to tell if the civic is a 99/00 is to look for the fake fents/lourves on the front bumper.

For what I've seen the plugs and even the ecu look the same, but there should be because there's a sensor in the gas tank on 99/00 that the 96-98 doesn't have and is going to give you a check engine light. I have the 96-98 ecu and 99-00 in my house, and I didn't pass inspection because of the 99-00 ecu check engine light.

You can see the 99-00 plugs are long and doesnt use the really short one at the end. The 96-98 plugs has that shorter one. So 3 long plugs about the same size = 99-00. 2 long ones about the same size and a short one about half the size compared to the longest plug = 96-98.

99-00 = first top one
96-98 = second from top

So you need the same for Integra, and for Accord? I noticed you post the exact same thing almost in two other forums.

You should try local yards, first.

It's because I just need the connector, and thanks to Quickk 99's link I can see that there are more cars than I thought that have the OB2b connectors.

I need the connector because I'm adapting an OBD2b AEM ECU to a non supported car, so I need the connector to connect it to my car.

Anrdres, can you tell by the picture wadup linked if you have the correct connector?

Thanks all.
