Default Need a little advice from those with more knowledge than me

I have a b16 CRX with a Skunk2 intake manifold, Jacobs ignition, Venom 400, i/h/e, light weight flywheel and unfortunatly it has an auto ecu and is obd0. I am about to order crower stage 3 cams and dual springs and ti retainers. does anyone have any suggestions on what i should do to it before getting this just to insure that I'm getting the most power out of it and also making sure that it will be somewhat reliable, at least for a little while anyway any help would be appreciated Thanks

well your two points you said as negative is what I would change. Swap over to obd-1 and use a p28 or p30 ecu chip it so you can then tune via hondata, crome or uberdata. When you go this route you also need a wideband. Porting, valve job and bigger tb would all do alot when it comes to n/a.

I agree, an obd1 ECU, such as a chipped P28, and some tuning, would be great.

Both correct so far, your engine isn't operating to its full potential if you don't tune the ECU. Infact some parts, like bigger injectors, will hurt your performance rather than help it, unless the ECU fuel maps are changed to match the larger injectors.

dont run those stage 3 cams, you will lose power you NEED at least 12.0-1 compression to even think about running stage 3's. if you do a thinner head gasket you might be able to do stage 2's

Thanks for all the info guys, why would i need higher compression? i am trying to figure it out but i guess i just don't understand it fully. thanks

You could also run OBD0 Zdyne (although not a popular choice)

Unless you up your compression alot, I would not use anything greater than stg2.

basically if there is not enough compression there is not enough vacuum in the intake, the stage 3 cams are opening more and longer in duration, than a stock cam if the compression is not high enough the intake air does not have the velocity to fill the cylinders as efficiently

thanks Jimmy, i was confusing myself with the whole proccess. i figured that if you boost it you want lower comp, so if you allow more air into the cylinders via cams then the comp should not have to be higher, however i failed to realize that with boost it is forced in and with the cams it needs something pulling the air in. thanks for all the help
