Default Venting the valve cover

Well, I was getting a good amount of oil in my motor from the valve cover hose that goes to the intake. So, I pulled it off of the intake and pointed the valve cover hose to the ground.

I didn't want to use a breather because from what I've heard bad things happen when the breathers clog.

Is what I'm doing, okay?

I'm unsure as to why I'm getting excessive blowby.. compression is 270 even across the board. Oh well.

I wouldn't run an open system

There is some debate as to if the intake runs air into the valve cover, or pulls vapors out. Either way, you are reducing the PCV system's effectiveness by letting it run open. Now the only thing releasing crankcrase pressure is the pressure itself (ie: it is unaided by fresh air displacement, or vacuum).

Weld a slashcut tube into your exhaust at a 45 degree angle and run a hose to the valve cover breather. It will pick up some HP and prevent oil from getting into your system.

I found this on summit for $30.. I'll go ahead and give it a shot. Obviously I can't use the breather, but I'll just connect the hose up to the valve cover.

Sweet, I've been having the same issues myself.

You don't have to order the whole kit--I just ordered the part that you weld into your header collector and the check valve--it was only like $20 from summit--why spend more when you aren't going to use all the pieces?
