Default Piston Cleanup

I have searched to no avail on this topic.

I have removed my head on my D16Z6 to do a top end rebuild. After the removal I have noticed alot of carbon buildup on the exposed surface of each piston. I would like to know what is the best way to clean the bottom half of the engine with out completly taking the bottom half apart and doing a full rebuild. The engine has about 135k on it but the bearings seem to be in good shape.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Why would you do something like that... you will do more damage than good...

Even if you DO manage to clean the internal parts of the engine, they will get "carboned" after 50 miles of driving...

It is just not necessary and in some cases dangerous...

Just clean the valve "seats" with some polish and you're ready to go...

Just make sure that your head and valve train are CLEAN and CLEAN means without carbon build-up... and you can achieve that by changing the oil and the filter regularly...

And if you want to clean the internals, go with some Seafoam... there are many topics on this forum where people wrote their experiences with Seafoam...
