D16 to H22 or 23?
Damn all this talk about swaps got me nuts. Here are the facts, I love preludes, they are raw power hondas. I got a EK D16Y7 and no matter wut i do to it its still a bitch motor. I ****** hate it, i just really experiement with it. Next up Porting it. Anyway, i wanna throw in an H series motor. I love em, i know i read its havier and all that, and crap, Axels i know are going to be a bitch, but hey once i got squared out it should be fine right? ok i wanna know if anyone has really tryed it? Is there anyone out there that can really give me some good input and advice, i dont want to jump on it just like that. i would really appreciate it. Thanks,
save ur money and turbo the single cam?... dont waste your money.. most of it is bs about the h swap, its well worth it. or an b series built the right way can get u similar power. It all depends on what u want.. personally i wanted to have a full weight hatch, stereo, subs, decent sized rims.. and be able to move all that sh.. so i went h... beating turbo cars w/ 18" rims and a full system... wayyy too much fun

Nope, nobody's ever done it.
Keep reading, they aren't that much heavier, and axles aren't any more of an issue than any other swap.

boost the y7
and have some fun with the single cam
if it goes kaboom, the cost won't make ur wallet so empty
My buddies EF hatch with a boosted y7 ran a 8.3 in the 1/8th...and this was with a turbo kit that was pieced together under $1500
I used to own a 93' H22 lude and I admit its fun to drive, but I'd take a turbo D anyday...
But its up to you...its your bank account...not mine

Good thing I beat an JDM H22 LSD 94 accord with my 1.5L on 6 LBS of boost with a passenger in the car.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
The H-Series are nice but not worth the hassle.

Go for the H, you will NOT be dissapointed.

Exactly, you'll put out good power with this setup.

Three swaps ago I would have agreed with you. Having done/seen it, it's problems. Down the line it works like a normal motor should it's everything else around it. I wouldn't do it but that's me, more research should be done about it

Eh, never had problems with mine and plan to do it with the current car as well, but to each his own.

I wouldn't want to do the H swap again, but I don't regret it at all. Its nice to have a 13 sec car that's just as reliable as it was before the swap (actually more so in my case). My old roomate had a turbo sohc crx. His et's were .4 faster than mine, but he blew up 3 motors in one summer (@ 15 psi
).

FI reliability is in proper tuning and not cranking up the boost too high.

most people that "choose" to do turbo single cams are usually do it cuz of a budget anyone in their right mind knows, if u have the means why not start w/ a better platform. ie a dual cam vtec motor, whatever that be... ek hatches arent exactly the lightest cars and a single cam turbo, will be "ok" but why be ok when u can swap and be just as fast na.. cuz then if thats still not fast enough u can upgrade it for all motor or go turbo on the dual cam.... now compare a turbo single cam to a turbo dual cam motor?.. i dont think so.. and for the people that made it seem like swapping a honda motor into a honda, being too much trouble?... i cant believe u guys can still say that w/ all the tech and advances that have been made so that almost any harry, dick and jane can easily swap most honda motors in civic... i dunno maybe u guys r just lazy?...

i wont front i am too, but not to the point that it would make me rock a single cam, unless i had no dough... my second hatch that i kept all motor.. b-series.. was purchased in sd at some used car dealer..drove it to a friends shop in rosemead...swapped.. single cam lasted 3hrs ... yuk..
The thing is: I always loved preludes, their motor at the time of their production was the strongest one honda had come up with. Everyone around my way is up on the GSR/ITR motors, and i love em. But i hate to be the same as everyone else. I know thats its harder to drop it in the CIVIC EK, but if there is the slightest chance of it being posible, then yeah I'll go ahead, turbo is not what im looking for, specially in this little motor.
you should go h22 it is heavy but its a freeway runner. all you need are the mounts and trade in your stock axels to kragen as core exchanges for prelude ones. it is kinda hard to work on them seeing as there is little room but in an ek you'll be running around low 14s depending on alltitude. do a couple bolt ons theres not gonna be a lot thats gonna touch you, and the swap is only 2200 from hmotors. if you just bolt on a turbo to your single cam you wont be as fast and in the long run your gonna be spending more $

dont get me wrong, i like prelude motors, but the b's are good w/ boost, you can make jus as much power w/ boost.. but yeah mainly the reason for me doing the h was/is to be diff... i did mine in '01-- turbo a whole 3 weeks later... there's still less than a few in the area i live in after all this time.. and people who still find it hard to believe it fits...
