Default CV boot gone bad?

First off, is this my CV Boot?
Second, is the labor for replacing this part very expensive? What all has to come off? just the wheel?

yea that **** is fucked. It's pretty easy. You could do it yourself in like 30 minutes if you've never done it. I'm pretty sure there is a DIY somewhere. The cost for labor, i dont know. But the cost for a rebuilt axle is about 60 with the exchange of your messed up one.

If you have a hammer, pickle fork, ratchet set then you can do it easy.

is it something you would definately fix before driving it 600 miles? probably a REAL DUMB question.

So you think i should just have the entire Axel repaired while im at it?

Oh... Yeah. Just replace the whole thing. It's probably just a waste of time trying to replace the boot and replacing the entire axle is much easier.

I've driven on a torn cv booth to the point where I was getting some serious vibration in the feet but i'd just replace it as soon as you have the time and 60 bux for a new axle. Dont plan any road trip or nothing with it. It'll take you like 30 minutes just do it trust me.

well the car has a smooth ride still (going straight) and for some reason its still a bit greased. What is the worst thing that could happen 500 miles down the road?

I'm not exactly sure but if it's not greased i would imagine it would make your car shake real bad. duno i'm not real experienced
